I'm not saying aftermarket parts can't be used either. Lord knows I've used them almost exclusively since I started working on cars and trucks. It's just ironic that this one didn't after that conversation we had about it last week. You sure you don't work for Toyota???? haha, j/k

I've been through all that several times making sure I wasn't doing something wrong. I don't have the exact size feelers, but I've got some that are close enough. I did take the throttle body off and clean it up good (without the new TPS on). The idle stop screw and dashpot are where they should be and I know I'm using the feeler gauges in the right place. I've been driving with the sensor unplugged since the end of last week waiting on the new part.

Here's the link to my thread on it. Let me know what you might come up with from it.....

-I have rusty chrome bumpers with holes all around my '95 runner. Do the cheaper aftermarket replacements tend to fit like the originals, or is that a gamble? I was told the seams with those should look pretty good.

Also
-Dead lighter socket
-Dead dome light housing
-Half dead rear wiper motor

But only 107k original, so I'm still smilin'

TMO... If you want just a stock look you might be able to find something that isn't rusted in the junkyard or whatever. That's what I would do but then again I live in the west where clean 4 runners are a dime a dozen.

anyway what has died on mine.
antenna. I know this is very common and will be replaced with a different whip soon.
doesn't run like it should when cold starting. still trying to figure this out
small exhaust leak or injector ticking. I don't know yet but I think it is exhaust. valves are all adjusted correctly so I'm not worried.
windows don't work very well but this is common as well
trans front seal is not a very good seal anymore. goes through about a quart every month. It's my own way of doing a trans flush. The EPA probably doesn't like it very much though.

Apparently this now,

Prior to this my needle was a bit jumpy so i'm thinking maybe the cable behind the dash is dried or cracked.

Good point. Stock is all I want, and there's at least one yard i need to hit since it's relatively close by. Most of the 4runners that i see have at least some rust, so it's tough to imagine anything rust-free sitting around waiting to be picked. Still, gotta get off my butt and check the yards just in case...thanks

Could it be? After 326k Miles, The rear-end is finally going out. I'll have to drive my 2wd '88 for awhile. Sure glad I had a spare toyota laying around.

You name it and I need to fix it on a 77 FJ-40 I just picked up. Some knucklehead believed that body filler would fix any thing, that bolts were optional, and so was most of the wiring.

The one thing I cant figure out is how to fix the e-brake. I have adjusted the back brakes, and the cable under the dash but still no luck. Does anyone know what to do next, because I have two books and no info about the transfer case brake drum?

Thanks, Kirk

awesome truck... one of the 40 series will be my next car of choice. I see that you are new here? welcome to yotatech. you will probably want to get on ih8mud if you haven't. they are really the guys that know the 40 series. yotatech is more directed at toyota pickups and 4runners.
