I DO have a solution for the Horn.... First, pull your grill(most likely, .....pretty sure I got mine from a 93 4Runner).... Check out the connector(doesn't matter much, as you can splice/solder the new one in) and then go to the Pick-Your-Part, and grab one off a Toyota Pick up or 4Runner.... I paid 5$ for mine(Dealership is like 80$).... and it works fantastically! I noticed that the Camry and Corolla and otherwise Horns were very similar if not exact... But I brought a lil charger and "beep".... and Cashier, and Home, and install! lol. It's actually in my build thread somewhere, hahaha.

Brakes? DON'T SKIMP! Pads and Shoes Brand and proper installation REALLY DO make a huge difference....

I will be hitting the Yard today or tomorrow(time allowed) and so I will keep my eyes open for one.....

pass door handle won't open the door from the outside.
if the pass window is rolled down you can't open the door from the inside.
i'd fix it but i like messing with people and watching them fight it

I switched to a 1999 Taco 3.4 4x4 four months ago, and this is my first post since then. Barely anything is broken on this thing compared to my 1992 4runner. I've been extremely lazy with updating my profile, both with pictures and asking a mod to change my username to be both more accurate and less obnoxious. (Don't worry, it won't be r9e9d.....) ANYWAY, back to topic;

Center console lid is only held on by 4 circles of velcro
Parking brake cable recently snapped free
One of the power outlets is missing its little black plastic cap
The cruise control on-off button on the stalk is a little sticky
Driver's seat trim (the plastic that the recline lever pokes through) is off the screw (a washer will fix that).
Just topped 178k recently and that is a refreshingly small list of problems. I loved my 4runner but I do NOT miss it.

1997 4runner V6 auto (USA)
- Leaking diff seal, the second.
- Broken clock, lucky the radio has one.
- Head gasket is going... sealed for now.

1995 Toyota 4runner V6 Auto (Australia) - bought last week.
- Broken fuel filler handle.
- Missing fuel cap holder.
- Leaking some oil (haven't gotten that far yet)
- Broken antenna
- Need new stereo (I love the USB stick radios).
- Faulty rear window switch.
- Small exhaust leak.
- Loose suspension.
- Missing skid plates.
- Could use: Tow hitch, off-road lights, better jack, better tires.
- Rear differential pinion seal leaks. I hope this and a top off will fix the 80km/h + hum. I doubt the oils ever been changed....
And today, while working on the differential: I broke the tip of a screwdriver into the drive pinion nut while trying to "un-stake it." So now, I'm charging the drill to try to get that out. Then if all goes well, I can get out the pinion bearing and oil seal for replacement. Then, put on a new nut to the right torque with no torque wrench, and stake it.
So I'll be back in a couple of days looking for a rebuilt differential.

Hmm, my cruise control doesn't work, but don't care.
It shifts hard (apparently the last owner replaced the clutch) and I really don't want to find out what is wrong but it needs to be done.
Bumper is tweeked upward.
It was pulled behind a motor home and they didn't shield the front end so it looks like it was blasted with gravel for 150k miles.
There is a lot of thick oil deposits under truck, but can't really see any leaks at this time.
I just replaced the water pump and timing belt and thought I would save money and not put any cam seals in (boy was I wrong). Now I need to go back in asap to fix.
Oh yea, it has over 427k original miles on it, and is basically a ticking time bomb for problems.
Other than that, its a great truck.

'88 pickup 2wd (driving while I get '96 fixed) (my workhorse)
The heater face plate is brittle. It contains several holes where fingers go through.
Light on right side of instrument panel is out. Can't see fuel gauge at night.
Front grille rattles bad. only held on with 2 screws. all self locking tabs broken.
Needs new muffler and pipe from header- back. pipe and muffler look like Swiss cheese. sounds like a farm tractor.
Gas pedal needs to be pumped over 5 times to get started in the morning.
Front suspension is shot.
226k original miles on 22R
Shucks, it drives like a champ though!!

Thanks Chef....well I couldn't figure out why I was having problems only when I turned right, everything was fine coming straight again or turning left. I just kept putting in fluid thinking there was a blockage in the line and it would work it's way out. Parking on leaves and not noticing any fluid on the ground is why it took me a while but once I got the truck back in my garage and saw the little puddle forming....that and I asked my mechanic's what would cause this....added up pretty quickly. Now all I have to do is wait for a new one to arrive from The 4Runner House, get it installed and all will be good again.
