If there was something positive to say about the 3.0 I think someone would have already done it. It is my belief that you will be hard pressed to find many positive comments about the 3.0

In fact, I did say something positive. I said the 22RE is a better engine.

To be honest, if I had the money and the "want to" left to do it, I'd probably consider trying to put a 4.3 Vortec in there. That engine has a load of power, it would spin the 4 Runner sideways.

But I've put all my eggs in the same basket so to speak. And, now I'm broke I've got about $3500 in this thing, that is pretty much wasted.

I have the same feeling you get when you put a dollar in the coke machine and it takes it. Your like "Man!" And there is nothing you can do about it...it's just gone.

If I had read a post like mine, I would have known better than to buy a 3.0, I would have bought a 3.4 and did the swap. But I did not know.

Hopefully someone else browsing on here will see some of my posts, and they will know that is what they need to do.

It is probably what I am going to have to do.

Or either try and sell the thing for $1000 dollars and walk away from it. There is no way I'll get $2000 for it, I've been running it on craigslist, had a few lookers and no one is interested in it.

So, I'm just stuck with it. Or I'll have to take a big loss on it and get something else.
91 3.0, 320,000 miles has never left me stranded still has the original head gaskets with the exception of a few oil leaks it has been a GREAT motor!

Front axle seals leaking, clutch slave leaking, rear wheel bearings almost toast. Nothing that can't be handled, but all a pain

hmm where to start

motor is out of the runner waiting for oil pump, water pump, timing belt and tensioners.

before i pulled the motor, rear window did not go down, truck would not start..i was fiddling around with the rear window wiring at the bottom of the tailgate (was trying to get the window down to unlock the doors so i could get my keys ) and i was supplying 12v to the wires trying to find the one that makes the window go down......heard some fuses or relays blow up towards the front of the truck, guess i effed up

so gotta figure out the electrical problems, get the motor back together, and after that i should be fine

not many problems, just a few big ones LOL

the stereo is a problem for sure, gotta install my head unit, and my 2 type-R 12's

I don't know about all you guys in the states, but up here in Canada, a lot of our 4Runners have a crack on the top of the dashboard right between the tack and speedo that runs from the tip of the dash right down to the windshield. Man that drives me nuts!

Welp, here we go:

86 4runner - antifreeze leak due to previous owner jerry rigging heater hose/tube after he broke the top bolt off and then decided to silicone the crap out of it. Better I found it now than on the trail. Looks like a new timing cover without a broken bolt in it is in order.

98 4runner - radio antennae motor broke, drivers side vent broke, drivers side window wont roll down (something electrical) after father in law broke the switch housing. Replaced master control for window but no workie...

Outside of that my 4runners are kickin butt!

Tacoma:
needs new belt
new front brakes soon (squealing occassionally and pulsing)
new tires soon
P/S Dome light switch don't work
missing P/S trim piece
hole cut in front of bed (NO idea)
Clutch is getting *knock on wood* a little soft
Weird vibrations/pulsations I need to get looked at asap, probably bad shocks

Too much to list on the jeep

Sadly I do. I broke the front diff earlier this year in some hard snow and they overlooked that seal because the other side was snapped off.

The rotors have never been done before and I used to whip the E-brake a lot. At least it isn't like my dad's F-150, he has to mill them every 15k for some reason.

And I can't explain the hitch. I have to get the rust of and repaint it when school's out.

Let's see...

- antenna doesn't go up or down
- there are about three small holes rusted through in my muffler (i think that's actually the only reason I passed the CA smog... skewed readings due to less exhaust leaving tail pipe?)
- front dif is def leaking a little bit
- brakes are soft, like really soft and on a hot day they make this weird whistle when i first start her up and press the pedal
- my paint is faded to s#*!
- my steering wheel is cocked to the right, i know it makes no real difference, it's just annoying to look at
- I'm pretty sure the back passenger speaker is blown
- and one of the PO's cut out the middle lap belt in the back seat, like literally cut it out. It's still mounted to the floor and every thing, but it's only about a foot long now...

I could probably keep going but my head hurts after thinking about repair costs for all of this. I love my 4runner, and I knew what I was getting into when I bought her, but fml, i need more free time!
