something went pop in the transmission, pulled the transfer case and the spline coupler from the transmission came out with it..not good;

that resulted in a fried input bearing and shot shaft:

Congrats ^^

Pickup:
the body is beginning to show rust even after some work done about 3 years ago
Leaky valve cover (I think)
Leaking windshield seal, give me the "wet floor" mod
Bellcrank inside drum causing parking brake to not work
worn rear shoes/drum that I have to take apart every few week to "un-seize"
heater control back-light doesn't work (I think its my fault)

4Runner:
all the weather channel leaks, giving me another "wet floor" mod
still at body shop getting new rocker panels put on
gas pedal is really stiff
cruise control not functioning
rear window is REALLY sluggish
still some rusty things that I have to replace eventually
needs new upper right ball joint and alignment
needs new sway links
needs undercoating to survive the upcoming winter
have to get it certified so I can legally drive it...

to top it all off... I'm unable to drive it since its still at the shop

What's broke on my truck!

My carpet and my rear seat are wet! its been quite rainy here in Seattle. I checked all windows and everything seems to be sealed pretty good. Driver side rear seat cushion is wet and so is a little area in the carpet.

Any suggestions to what is causing this and how to fix the problem!

on my 94:
- drivers side door handle no longer works thanks to someone locking the keys inside
- automatic antenna no longer extends (should be an easy fix, we'll see.. haven't attacked it yet)

on the 86:
- drivers side window regulator only works half-way
- ignition switch accepts any screwdriver or flat blunt object to start it [yipe]
- torn cv boot
- exhaust leak where the cat was removed
- wiper spray reservoir leaks
- did i mention i don't have any key for it? it doesn't lock right now. see above ignition switch problem. and yes it's totally legit, not stolen and never been stolen

87:
RIP. parts truck for my 86 now

Well, I just fixed the ignition switch problem I had with a new relay.
Next up is the heater. Cold weather is coming. Not really (SoCal)
Oh yeah and that cable under the passenger seat the releases it and slides it forward. Should address that too.

1. Rust, and lots of it.. Canadian truck
2. broken lamps on turn signals - rocks, sticks
3. one seized piston on front R 4-pisotn brake caliper - meh
4. two broken bolts are holding on my Front L manual hub - over torqued, I was tired and lazy, used an electric impact gun.
5. downpipe is broken just below the y collector - weld split
6. Cold idle valve in throttle body is stuck open - it has since been packed with silicone
7. windshiled leaks in the top corners - PO installed the windshield himself
8. engine temp gauge reads above the red at all times - New sensor, I don't get it
9. gas gauge reads empty below half tank - sending unit. $200? No thanks

*i have non-SR5 cluster. only 3 gauges. 2 don't work, my speedo is 14% off due to larger tires

10. interior lights.... what interior lights??
11. rear door cards are broken and ripped - PO pulled them off violently for some reason
12. cargo area plastic sides are cracked/broken - PO attempted to install 6x9's
13. spare tires mechanism is seized, and I cut my spare off with an angle grinder - weight reduction FTW
14. bent axle shaft - thanks lincoln locker
15. reverse lights don't work - i don't even know when this happened
16. trailer lights almost work correctly - brakes, lights, left turn signal work
17. My paint is starting to resent my truck. sponges that used to be yellow are now blue - I think PO, or before him rattle canned it.
18. Air conditioning condensor isn't broken, but missing.. don't know if that counts or not.. - have the condensor, interior controls, and plumbing. PO shoved a large bolt in the hose
19. leaking oil from sensor on the lower part of the block - leaks from the centre of the sensor, sensor still works though
20. Rear third member leaks when it wants to between the third member and axle housing

Believe it or not, my 4Runner isn't a complete piece of crap, just a lot of little unimportant things.. I'll get around to fixing these things eventually, when I feel like it.

Do I win some kind of prize for my extensive list?

I just replaced the timing chain, cover, water pump, oil pump, mains, radiator, hoses, belts, ect...ect... These things a result of the dreeded timing chaining wearing a hole in the cover. The a/c is locked up and the drivers side window is hard to roll down. All of these things are minor compared to the fact the the silly lights on my radio will not light up!!! That is driving me out of my mind.

1992 190K I love that little truck.

Hood won't close. Throws a p0446 code every now and then (problems with the charcoal canister). Handle to rear hatch sticks open, have to manually push it forward before closing the hatch.

It's not a bug... it's a FEATURE!

  • Rear window stopped working (fortunately, in the fully UP position)
  • Can't open rear door
