Tranny is on its way out. We shall see how long it can hold on. So if anyone has one for a 1994 pickup let me know. I wonder if it is turbo related (more power)

I too have a leaking substance accumulating inside my passenger rear wheel and i pulled the drum off and i found a leaking axle seal, so it COULD be and axle seal or a leaky wheel cylinder
Other than that I need a timing kit ASAP, i broke a shock the other day( already fixed that), And I need to tighten my front wheel bearings up, idler arm and pitman arm are starting to have some play, and my low beam headlights dont work (cant figure out why)...... I think thats it for this week. Oh and my horn only works when the wheel is turned past 45*! Just spent $470 on new tires!

Fortunately, one of our lovely junkyard vendors hooked me up, for free (added to an order I had just placed).

I compared the switches, the old (broken) one is boned, the switch pin doesn't come all the way out. Either some serious cruft got inside there or something broke.

Anyway, it's fixed, my light works now. I recently replaced the oil pressure sending unit, so now my oil gauge works, and I got the 4Runner back from the transmission shop today.

After I get this wiring love done, I'll have to look for something more to fix.
What's done:
  • Wiring work done, I'm quite pleased with that
  • CB Radio installed
  • Spiffy compass/external-temp/auto-dimming mirror installed
  • Funky factory shift boots replaced with fresh hand-sewn leather goodness
  • Fabricated new skid for the tailgate spring, no more crunching sound when I drop/raise the tailgate!
  • L-shaped trim on passenger side replaced, although it needs a good cleaning, looks like it sat in the junkyard for a few years

What's left:
  • Redo wiring for temp probe on mirror
  • Install speaker baffles behind the 6.5" speakers in doors and cargo area
  • Install spiffy boat-style pivoting cupholders
  • Install electric lock solenoids and security system
  • Find another late-80s 4-spoke alloy rim and replace spare tire
  • State inspection (whups!).

OBTW, for those who are curious about this, look underneath between the tailgate and spare tire. If you see two broken bits of plastic bolted to the body with a nice rub mark in between, yours is broken, too! Another good sign is the telltale "crunchcrunchcrunch" sound you hear when you drop the tailgate.

Here's what I did...

Start with 2x2" angle-aluminum (you can get these at Lowe's):
  1. cut a 7" long piece
  2. cut off chunk to clear front mount
  3. cut off corners to clear body contours
  4. drill two holes for the mounting bolts

For the skid surface, I used 3/16" High-Density Polyethylene ("HDPE", you can buy 12"x12" sheets of these online):
  1. cut 7"x2"strip
  2. drilled two holes to align with aluminum bracket created above

Slapped it all together, voila!

(maybe I should pull it apart and take some pics..)

I've had a lot of things going wrong recently, however my currentl problem is with the rear window. The window will go up and down with the key. But when I use the switch, the window will go down when I press UP on the switch. Replaced switch and it does the same thing. So, I don't know.

Cruise Control doesn't work. Light comes on, but no go.

REPLACED;

Rear axle seals
Front & Rear brakes
02 sensors
Catalytic Converter
Tranny service
Three sensors in the tranny
Replaced broken headlights and corner lights
Changed differential fluids

My Drivers front running light is missing (fender got hung on a creek bank and popped it out)
Dash wiring is messed up (shorted wires from CB install)
Running lights don't work (needs relay for rock lights so it'll quit popping fuses)
Transfer case shift linkage needs to be bent back to proper location (got bent while high centered on a rock)
Body damage from trees / rocks
Probably going to need new bearings up front (waiting on SAS)
Brakes are a little spongy (probably due to bearings)
Windshield is cracked
AC needs recharging
AT Temp light keeps coming on when trail riding / rock crawling
dash pad cracked on Drivers side
