Arrow Front Drive Shaft Angle Question

I have a 1995 4runner, The lift on my truck causes the front drive shaft angle to be a bit extreme. It cause a slight vibration. I was wonder if the older model Toyota trucks 80s drive shafts support higher angles like ive heard. If so could i correct this issue with a drive shaft from a late model toyota? any info is appreciated.

With only a 3" lift I doubt the angle is that extreme. Probably worn ujoints or slip spline is more likely to blame.

It is actually closer to 4-5 lift.

So which is closer to 4" of lift, 3" or 5"? 4-5" of true suspension lift doesn't happen on IFS.

4x4wire has a write up about clearancing IFS ujoints. If you've got that much lift you need more driveshaft spline length too.

inspect your DS CV and U joint, grease it.
if that is not your issue.
clearance the CV for more clearance:

Any pics? I really just want to oogle more photos of that clean lookin' runner you got...

I think my front driveshaft on my 93 runner is about to go; I pumped grease into the U-joint and it all came right out the other side in a gob.... no bueno... it's OK though, SAS and complete suspension/driveline overhaul soon...

speaking of which, Wabbit, you're going to get tons of my money this summer....

I am positive its the angle, that mod will probably do the trick. the truck is in the process of the 3.4 swap and some rear coil spacers. I was hoping the older front drive shaft would be able to fix it also.

Your front dshaft will have mating flange on the tcase with studs as opposed to bolts and will have compatability issues with other dshaft flanges. You'll have to do some pattern matching and possibly do some flange swapping on the tcase and/or dshaft.

I think an 85 front drive shaft will bolt right onto the 95 4runner. can anyone confirm?

The flange patterns are going to vary and the tcase flange has studs pressed in it, not holes for bolts.

Check. Plan. Measure. Don't assume it's going to be bolt on swap cause it won't be.

Might be the front shaft alignment is off due to the lift:

If the alignment is off (i.e the bottom u-joint angle is greater than 0 degrees), then swapping shafts will not help. Either live with it, install manual hubs so you can unlock the front hubs if the front shaft is turning all the time, put a CV joint on the bottom or modify the differential mount to tip the pinion angle up more.

I have manual hubs installed for this reason. I have also had a friend modify the dif mount to point it up, and that helped a lot. I just need to have it done a little bit more, just don't want to put to much more work on my mechanic. Ill get it taken care of, thanks for the advice.
