Exclamation 90 4runner wont start

i have a 1990 4runner 6cyl that wont start. it was running jus fine, went to the store, then didnt wanna start. it turns over, but doesnt start. it is definitely gettin enough juice from the battery. i towed it back home and disconnected the air box from the throttle body. it looks pretty dirty. i tried starting it without the air box and it almost starts. i tried giving it gas, and there was a small explosion (pop) from the throttle body. any ideas? thanks in advance

i replaced the fuel pump and it was working fine. the only problem now was that rpms wont go above 3000. i changed the distributor cap and rotor, and now it only starts for a second and then turns off. if i disconnect the volume air flow meter, it stays on for like a second longer.
any ideas?
anyone at all?
any thoughts are appreciated

forgot to mention. I also pried open the vloume air flow meter and if i hold the little door open, the runner stays on. maybe a bad vaf?

please someone anyone help!!!

I just became the proud owner of a 1992 pickup that may have the same issue as you. I'm wondering if you have solved your 4runners problem? I would like to fix this myself and would greatly appreciate some advice.

it ended up being the fuel pump. had to replace it like 3 times before i finally got a good one. it drove me insane for a while. turned out it had nothing to do with the sensor. i jus kept getting defective pumps... hope that helps
