Things to look at/replace while Tranny is out

Hey guys.. Been having a few age issues with my 89 Pickup..

Running the G52 5speed behind a 22R..

I had the clutch done about a year ago and just last week the clutch pedal stopped working and pushed right to the floor without any problems.. So I have done a bleed on the whole system and ordered a new Slave Cylinder.. I got someone else to look at it and it's not the slave cylinder, something has gone wrong inside the box...

So we dropped the tranny, and the throwout bearing just doesn't look/feel right. I'm pretty sure it was replaced when the clutch plate was done..

Just wondering what else I can replace while it's all out, to ensure that it will work when it goes back in?

Thanks guys.

Are you sure you're not having a master cylinder issue? I'm assuming you still don't have pedalage?

there aren't many complaints on this forums about the fork's pivot stud getting broke. but I think, will be good to replace it.

Just had to replace my clutch after the pedal went to the floor. I started with the master cylinder, then the slave. Then i just went ahead with the whole clutch. Even if you put one in a year ago but my clutch disc had some springs break which made a big problem. But if you know its your throwout bearing i wouldn't worry about any thing else besides that or the fork stud like 75k5toy said. Maybe even check the bearing is installed the right way.

If you replaced with a top of the line after market clutch you should be good to go.

Me I would think about putting a new clutch in .

I just put a Napa clutch in while i was having a transmission rebuilt now this was only about 2 or 3 months when the rebuilt went back in I put a New Luk clutch in.

While the trans is out if you have not relocated the fuel filter now is a real good time starter out front driveshaft out all kinds of room to see what your doing.

did you replace the pilot bearing when the clutch was done? were you loosing fluid? i've seen several times where the rubber line fails between the slave cylinder and the harlines..

Ended up being a snapped off clutch pivot bolt.. No one stocked these except Toyota who wanted way too much for it.. So I went and bought $6 worth of high tensile bolts, nuts and spring washers and made my own rounded head bolt, which is more solid than the Genuine toyota one..

Ohwell, atleast I got a new throwout bearing and slave cylinder in!
