Hey everyone,

I have a 1990 4runner 4x4 automatic. I recently changed out my old transmission for a JDM tranny (tranny from Japan). I purchased the tranny for $500 and had a local shop (family friend) put it in for $400.

I get the truck back and the reverse lights don't work!!! Its not the light bulbs nor the fuse as I already checked. What could be the problem??

 

There is a switch on the tranny that engages the reverse lights.

The switch on your new tranny may be defective, or maybe the wire pigtail is not plugged in.

Take it back and have the shop look at it.

Friends don't let friends drive without any reverse lights, specially after paying $400 for a tranny install.

 

We also insure we aren't in such a rush to make money we fail to do a complete job sheeeesh!!!!
