I've been keeping track of it since 2/06 on fueleconomy.gov
96 4runner, stock height, 16" Michelin LTX M/S, deckplate, 173,384 miles
Average since '06: 18mpg
Last: 19mpg
Best was in the Colorado mountains: 22.2mpg
We have 10% ethanol here.
Tire pressure makes a relatively big difference in the numbers.

just wanted to say that the person complainin "boot" metric sytem is undereducated bout americans..we use a different system for talkin and construction with small projects and various things but any college educated engineer can tell you "boot" somethin called the engineer"s scale. if you dig deep enuff and know wut america is really about mechanically you will find that this country's best minds have always used 10ths ,hundreths ,etc..as a former land surveyor i used to laff at the dumb contractors who couldnt figure it out and then id learn from the good contractors who know wuts up...metric and other types of measurements are and have always been the best..every buildin snd machine built in this country uses it[at design and later stages to a degree] and then converts any details later down in the production process for our tender sensibilities...i personally advocate all types of systems for fertile growing of minds..its people like you who cant stop to be polite and are threeatened by wut you dont know that confirms the worlds stereotypes on us americans..then cuz yer too lazy to learn ALL the systems in the world or ask questions you strut and act proud of yer -selfishness .well its thin as a piece of see-thru lace to me bud [your alibi...or anything you can say now].....however a good canadian would add some conversion numbers to his post for those americans here who resemble excited apes when they encounter something they dont know..soicialism is actually a good thing too btw ..i think you were refering to totalitarian communism where your underpants are screened for anytrace of fun by the secret police..but i digress ,,everyone loves a know it all..hehe

1994 2wd
2.4 liter efi with xtra cab, carpet shell. All stock except the hole I cut in the airbox
.
My average for the last year; hwy/city/loade/unloaded WAS: 23.8 mpg.
I consciously started driving slower around town and keeping hwy speed under 70 (most of the time) and the last 12 fillups have all been:
26mpg range.

'94 2WD - infinite MPG
(It's an electric conversion - I use it around town and to get me into the woods to cut firewood. It has ~40 miles range at 40 miles per hour and gets around 3 miles per kwhr electricity.)

.10 = kwhr = 3 miles
1 mile = .033 cents
$ 3.65 = gallon
20mpg = 3.65
20 x .033 = .70 cents
20miles = $.70 cents electric
20miles = $3.65 gasoline
If your numbers are right this is very nice. Got any photos or a write up of your conversion?

In my stock 4th Gen Runner 4.0 SportEdition 4x4 can get 22 in town and 32 hwy both taking it very easy. I typically get 17 in town and 23 hwy but that's driving heavy footed.
Also have a 1986 4Runner 22RE, Auto 4x4. Just bought and currently driving while restoring. Not sure about mileage but I know I am getting decent mileage.
I'll try to post pics soon.

Dude, no offence meant, but the metric system isn't the work of "socialists". Oddly enough, it's a system based on certain logical, scientific standards. Such as 100 centimeters to one meter. There are 1000 meters to a kilometer. Zero celcius is freezing, 100 celcius is boiling.
Not quite as quaint as the 12 inches equals one foot deal, and three of them to a yard. Then there's 5280 feet to a mile. Or freezing at 32 farenheit and 212 degrees for boiling.
Nice system.
And by the way, I get roughly 12.5 liters per 100 kms. Which would be approximately 22.6 miles per Imperial gallon, or 18.82 miles per US gallon.
As you can see in my sig line, I'm running a 3.4 liter engine with 265/85R15...er, 33"x10.5"x15" tires.
My calculations also show that 8 out of 24 posts, as of this writing, are by Canadians, giving you 33.3% (or 1/3) of the posts from Canada, not the 90% you claim. Don't forget the 1 guy from Belize, which is not part of the US.
