93 ext cab, 3.0, k&n, egr removal, no cat, headers, 258k on chassis, 14k on brand new long block, 400mi on new O2 sensor, 32x11.5R15 Kumho MT's @ 32psi with stock gearing, 1 can of seafoam to the gas tank every oil change and a couple oz's in the crankcase every 3rd oil change, running Redline oil all around. spirited driving (shifting around 3000-3500 rpm ... that toyota 'turbo' helps with stock gearing), sitting at around 3800 lbs gvw with a full tank of gas ... 16.4 mpg overall (~18 hwy/~15 city). with as dirty as it is I might be able to wash him and get another mile per gallon out of it ... but why would i want to wash it?

forgot to add that I installed this the other day and got an extra 50 horsepower ... did a wheelie out of the driveway too and had someone offer me 5 million dollars for such a sharp looking truck (which I politely declined ... lowballer)

Just pulled the top of the carb off and re-adjusted the float level. I was having acceleration issues above 50mph and bad gas milage (16mpg around town.)
Just bumped up to 18mpg around town!! Highway might be as much as 22mpg!

32 MPG!!!

Oh wait...that's my Corolla I was getting about 20 highway when my truck was completely stock-I'm afraid to see how bad its going to be now (see mods below), but thank god it's not my DD. My tank is something like 18 gallons-is that standard for a '91 regular cab 4x4 with a 22RE?

hahaha... Got me.

Anyway... yep, I believe the capacity is something like "17.6" or something-something, lol. JK, really, that's probably the tank you have. I'm not sure on the years, ....but there are 2 different tanks on my 'Gen' versions.... I think one is 14.8 and the other, which I have, 17.6.... I'll have to look that up.

I'm not complaining... Just asking;

Could you guys explain, somewhat in depth, the 'TYPE OF DRIVING' you're seeing on a daily basis/average?

I've mentioned several times... "I live on a 2K foot hill from Sea Level(where I'm down there every day, sometimes more than once).. And it's quite a hill... And it's L.A., so it's LOTS of sitting at lights, stop and go, 'SEA OF RED' kinda thing"..... etc. I ask that of posters cuz at times when I dig, I find out they live in totally flat environment with no traffic and no stop lights and driving 45-50 to work without stopping...... And call that 'CITY'... That's not city, in my application, haha..... I get it, it's not WOT on the HWY..... So technically it is... But I KNOW it's got to be much different for me where I am.

Anyway,...... 15.5 Gallons at most recent fill up after 205 miles.... .......... I'm REALLY going to have to figure this out. 13 City - 20 HWY.... that CAN'T be right! lol. Yeah, I know "I've said that" already... hahaha.

Since I've got no real time I can set aside right now... I might have to take her in to J.A.C. here locally and have that Guru I've mentioned figure out what it is... I mean, I have it running GREAT now, no massive missing, TONS of power, NO pinging, NO real dramatic backfire on full 'off throttle at 3500 rpm heading down a hill'..... But even when I try to baby it, it's 14mpg-city, MAX? I have a feeling that something is going on at 'IDL' settings/in town.... that's maybe causing some type of 'fuel dump' or otherwise computer related consumption, lol. Either way, in town, I'm guessing it's 'pretty rich'... And while that's better than lean... it's also not helping my CAT, ya know?

It's not a huge deal, but at a tank a week or so at 60$... it's not 'negligible' to me either. lol. Could just be a combination of 'dramatic traffic/hills and a minor issue like a CSI or intermittent CTS or otherwise issue... Maybe a AFM that's a lil off.... Not sure, but I'd like to figure it out.

One last thing..... It's a bit stinky from the pipe, even after up to operating temp... Has me a lil concerned about my upcoming smog check.

I think you need a wideband, Chef. That way you can get a good idea of what's going on while you drive.

I live in the heart of Tulsa, OK elevation 722ft. We have about 900,000 people in our metroplex. With a ˟˟˟˟ ton of stop lights and a decent amount of traffic. This is only my second tank since I purchased my 4runner. My 4runner only has 97,000 original miles. I am a very aggressive driver that is used to driving a newer Nissan Maxima with 290hp. I normally speed everywhere I go. Although I find it harder to drive aggressively with the 22re. My normally highway speeds are around 70 and 45-50 on city streets in the 4runner.

Yep, Tulsa's a proper crowded city with lots of peeps... Thanks very much for the explanation. So, basically,... you're stomping on it quite a bit and still getting decent mileage?

PS> My ex's family lived in Norman.... visited there all the time back in the day. Bit different than Tulsa, lol... Thanks again for the elaboration, Conquistador, I appreciate it.
