Gas Mileage Info.

88 Toyota Pickup, V6, 5Speed, 4WD, X cab, 31x10.50xr15, with 201K miles, I had about 80% highway miles and got 16.74mpg on the last tank with most of those miles on a stock(and dirty) air filter. Just installed a Cold Air Intake Kit within the last 50 miles of it( and caused a vacuum leak that was not fixed untill after the next fill up). I added some Lucas injector cleaner/lube to the next fillup and some Lucas Oil Stabilizer to the oil after that. I will report any change in mileage later. I do however need a new rear main seal and valve cover gaskets, fuel filter, starter, pcv valve, battery, brake pads and shoes and rotors and drums, and I'm also gonna replace the timing belt, tensioner, pulleys and water pump. And I may as well go for new wheel bearings all around being as old as it is. All things considered given the age of the truck it really isn't getting that bad of mileage. I have a 79 ford pickup with a V8 that doesn't get 10mpg on a good day.

I posted a little while back getting 10mpg. I realized because of the large tires that my speedo is reading slower than actual speeds and miles. Quick calculation (with help from some guys on here), turns out I was getting 11.9 mpg. I poured a bottle of carb cleaner stuff into gas tank.... now getting 16.69mpg after last fill up. Clearly the carb is nasty and gunked up so I'll put a couple more bottles through it and see if there's more improvement. The 4:88 gears going in right now should help a bit as well. \o/

Seafoam it. About $10 per bottle but well worth it.

I've got a '92 Pick-up with the 3.0 and a 5-speed 4x4. Tires are 31 10.50 Michelin LTXs. 106k on the clock...

I'm getting 15 to 18 city and up to 23 on the highway. I consistently get over 350 miles to the tank so I'm averaging around 20mpg.

Yota, you can try what I've been doing. Putting in fuel/carb/injector cleaners through the fuel lines and carb to clean stuff out. I've also pulled off a bunch of stuff since my last post and am cleaning everything. You've got an old one like mine (85) so chances are there are lots of nasty parts. Hope it helps

Fuel pressure regulator, tune that Weber. You should be getting way better than 10 to 12!
Check for leaks.

Yep I'm running a regulator the motor is brand new and the carb is tuned pretty well air fuel is 1 1/2 turns out and idle is a few turns in. I plan on putting in some fuel system cleaner today or tomorrow. I try not to hot rod it but every now and then I do for a few seconds. Any other ideas?
