  • 86 p/u
  • 22rte - Stock
  • All factory accessories P/S, A/C, power everything etc.
  • 2wd
  • K&N filter
  • Blown head gasket
  • 140,000 miles

11 mpg... With 40% city, 60% highway and a very light foot.

I'm hoping in the next few weeks after I get my block back from the machine shop, and I get back on the road, mileage will be much improved.

/ shrug.

21-22mpg with a V6, 5spd, 4x4 and tonneau cover. I was at 19-20 and when I added the tonneau cover I picked up about 10%. All my driving is highway and I go between 65-70mph. My tires are 255/65/15 on some sort of aftermarket 15in rim.

Well, just Wednesday put a full tank in and the gauge hasn't moved from being over the full mark yet after about 25 miles, but I'll post back up here once the tank's gone and I'll see where I stand... should be pretty good now, I went all of last week and then some on just under a half a tank, and that was with a good amount of miles too, but I didn't calculate it out cuz I didn't know how many miles or exactly how much gas I had in it. Got the info now though; put 14.765 gallons in at 284,008 miles, and at $3.319 a gallon, that cost me $49.00!

Gas prices suck...

So after a quarter of a tank (5 days later), I calculated roughly 14mpg right now! Much better than it used to be, but of coarse this is just a very rough estimate right now. Plus I've been getting into the throttle a lot here lately, lol.

i got 15+mpg with BFG A/T, 14mpg with Bridgestone M/T. mixed hwy and local driving, but you should know here in L.A., Hi-Way doesn't mean you can go faster the surface street all the time.

note: i have roof rack with 4 lights on top and the vehicle weights 4280lbs empty.

I think I learned aboot the metric system in the 4th grade... hmm..

Somone please ban HelliphinoN8.

why would anyone in their right mind WANT to use a system of measurement that uses multiples of 12 instead of 10? And thats just distance...

ANYWAYS

m 94 22RE 5spd-
I got 23mpg last fillup before I got my 33s - Had stocker 265/70 R17 (32x10?)
norm was 20-23
Well have to see now...

In my 85 22RE 5spd with 529s and 33s I got 17-19

Time before that was 3.8 mpg, also 100% wheelin.
i love the wheelin MPG's, that's where it's at... who drives a 4x Yota on the road?

Probably not the best idea to knock a country that you appear to know little about. That's one reason why Americans get a bad name. That, and your inability to govern yourselves.

Now, here's the how the metric system works:
  • 1 meter is about 3.2 feet
  • 1 kilometer is about 0.62 miles
  • 1 liter is about 0.26 gallons
  • and easy way to remember is 60mph = ~100km/h

Not quite as quaint as the 12 inches equals one foot deal, and three of them to a yard. Then there's 5280 feet to a mile. Or freezing at 32 farenheit and 212 degrees for boiling.

Nice system.

And by the way, I get roughly 12.5 liters per 100 kms. Which would be approximately 22.6 miles per Imperial gallon, or 18.82 miles per US gallon.

As you can see in my sig line, I'm running a 3.4 liter engine with 265/85R15...er, 33"x10.5"x15" tires.

My calculations also show that 8 out of 24 posts, as of this writing, are by Canadians, giving you 33.3% (or 1/3) of the posts from Canada, not the 90% you claim. Don't forget the 1 guy from Belize, which is not part of the US.
that may be true but did you know the meter started as the length of a kings arm? then got divided from there so I wouldnt say it is exactly logical. but this is the same guy who translated the bible and changed a few things to suit his desires. not looking to start a debate but just remember every system started as some dudes perception of what he thought was the best at the time and doesnt mean it is 100% perfect. even if it is mathematically easy.

BTW i get 20 mpg mods in sig

Does anyone know to conversion factor for odometer readings? I installed 31s on my truck a 1986 4runner which are bigger than the factory tires. The other day i used google maps for directions, it said the trip would be 96milesbut my odometer only marked 84.

just make a ratio of the circumferance of your old tires and new tires....

ex./ old=29" new=32" 32/29=1.103

multiply that ratio by indicated speed or mileage.

so if you drive 100 miles, 100x1.103=110.3 miles.

this may have to do with why some people who only have tire mods get crappy mileage. remember to correct your odometer reading before you do the math..

btw- 1994 extracab 22re with BFG a/t 32" and i get 19-22mpg

the meter is derived from the distance light travels in a vacum over a givin distance.. the speed of light.. approx. 350km to the tank with an adjustment for 33's stock gears and 22re on a 87Runner.. not great
