Dash light
#3
I assume "dash light" means the lamps in the combination meter (instrument panel). These are powered through the TAIL fuse, which I show as the "upper" fuse on the right. http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b.../2powersou.pdf There is some variation in the fuse panel (mostly on the relays), so use the label to find the "TAIL" fuse.
Remember that all of the panel lamps work through the rheostat; make sure that is set to "full bright." And if that doesn't help, the rheostat is where I would look first.
Last, no matter how much or little you know "'bout" wiring, you're going to get nowhere without a meter. No reason to not have one. http://www.harborfreight.com/catalog...t?q=multimeter

86-88 4Runner/Pick-up 22R-E 4x4 fuses in Driver side kick panel:

IF tail lights do not work either, check tail fuse, check if Tail relay clicks when you turn tail lights on, and do these voltage checks:

IF tail lights work but dash lights do not, most likely something to do with path to rheostat, then to ground, OR a rheostat that's open.

So what makes you sure that the fuses you are replacing will prevent this from happening again?
If you answer the questions above, that would be a step toward learning about wiring.
