Looking at LC Header this guy is selling(parting out his rig) He has it on a 22R. I have a 22re(1985 4Runner) Will this work on my rig? The header has no place for a 02 sensor.

 

it should as long as the exhuast ports are the same im pretty sure the o2 bolts into the header extension pipe

 

How will it run without the 02 sensor?

 

22RE will run without the O2 sensor but do so poorly. It is easy to have a muffler/exhaust shop weld on a fitting on the header or down pipe to attach the sensor to. My LC header was ordered for a 22R and I bought it from the original owner and installed it on my 22RE:

I think 1986 and newer trucks with the 22re had the o2 sensor located before the catalytic converter down under the cab. Thats the way mine is and I had a northwest offroade header and I remember when I got it they asked what year I had so that they would get the right O2 sensor location. Have the guy see if he has the connector pipe from header to existing exhaust and maybe that has the o2 sensor port on it. I wouldn't recomment just picking one header tube to weld your o2 sensor on because then you are only really going to read how that cylinder is running. Would not be ideal. If you can put it as close to the collector as possible if not in it and just add wiring if needed so that the sensor will read properly.

 

Thanks for the replys. Is 400 to much? This is for the whole setup. Header to tail pipe. Says its a dyno flow exhaust. No rust or holes.

I installed the entire LC Engineering stainless header and exhaust including a new Cat a couple of years ago. The O2 sensor goes into a bung built into the pipe after the header.

Not sure about the $400 as I would have to see exactly what he's selling downstream of the header. If it was the LC stainless setup front to back then I would say go for it but it sounds like it's not. Might not be a bad deal though. You need to find out where he is running the O2 sensor as you might have to modify the setup if you want to continue to run one.

 

Too pricy. You can get a new tri y header from Northwest offroad for a bit more that 400. Not knocking lc products but there sure proud of them, as there prices are very high.

FWIW, I wouldn't buy anything from NWOR and I damn sure wouldn't buy one of their headers for $400+.

 

Looks to me like the prices have been lowered on the headers since the last time I looked. When I got my header which was probably 7 or 8 years ago NWOR was cheaper. I take it you have had bad luck with there parts. The header I had worked great and I had no problems with it.

 

I'm sure most of their products are fine. I just couldn't get any service/information out of them at all the last couple of times I tried to buy something from them.

 

I have a downey offroad header and have had no problems with it. the O2 sensor goes into the header and the wire reaches to the connector just fine.

 

Having the O2 sensor in the collector pipe or just before the cat is what 2 smog shops had done to 2 of my rigs. Taking a sampling off of only one cylinder isn't as effective as giving the computer a sampling of the overall output of the engine. If that one cylinder with the O2 sensor is not firing right the computer will compensate affecting the other cylinders adversely.
I like the LC header with everything they give you. Those gaskets with the heat shield are hard to beat. Wish I could use one with my Thorley.
