My 4runner i just got (1998) came w/ a tape player
and i was wondering if it was possible to install a cd player out of another 4runner/tacoma or anything?
If so, do any of you possibly still have your stock cd players?

There is a thread around here about the Scion Pioneer MP3 head units. Maybe that would work for you? I'm looking into it myself.

yea i switched mine out for that same reason... after it got hot (after about 15 mins of driving w/a cd playing), it would make a little beeping/squeeking noise at every little tiny road bump/inflection. it was SO annoying.
