vacuum lines and timing issues, Help

so i finally got my 22rec, 1985 granville 4runner running after a 2 month long head gasket repair. took a while to get materials and funds, along with knowledge and just plain time to do it. anyway.. i keep getting REALLY bad vacuum surging. i am pretty sure i know why. (see picture) i cant find where this connects to on the vacuum diagrams i have looked at. and was hoping you guys could help me out. it wont run if its not plugged up. as far as the timing goes, how have you guys been timing your 22re's? i cant see the crank pully with the belts on well enough to tell. its pretty crammed. any help would be appreciated.

the open vacuum port is right beside the throttle body if you were wondering from the pic. its actually coming out of it.

That line either loops around to the side of your upper intake manifold, on the valve cover side, or it plugs into your aux air valve. I'll figure it out when I get home.

Yep, that one goes to the aux air valve.

As far as timing, I just went off idle quality and throttle response.

No taper to that hose - same diameter from under throttle body to front of IAV.

There's also an air hose that comes off the back of the IAV. It loops under and around and attaches on the side of the air plenum next to the cold start injector.

Have you gotten a replacement hose yet? Reason I ask, I need to replace those hoses on my engine. Just wondering if you were able to get them at the local parts store or had to order from the stealership.

had to get that hose at a dealership. 25$ but alot of the other vacuum line the dealer just took me in the back, cut me 6 ft or so of line, and didnt charge me anything. I cant really call them a stealership lol.

Makes sense. And since it's a molded line you can't just use a generic hose from Vatozone.
