Traction bar is bent. what to do?
Sorry i mis spoke i meant TRACTION bar, sorry i mixed up my vocab.
Hey yall, the other day i was wheelin and fell into a ditch backwards and my chassis was resting on a big boulder and there was alot of weight on the traction bar. long story short, now my right side traction bar is slighty bent but enough so thats its noticable. how big of a deal is it to replace? and if im replacing is there new ones i can buy that would benefit my truck?
this is on my 2000 4runner.
thanks for lookin guys

^I think so, I can't see anything else that would resemble a traction bar (usually a term associated with leaf springs) You should probably eventually replace it, but if it drivers straight enough then its probably not too urgent. The side of the axle on which the "traction bar" (called a lower controls arm or trailing arm) has been bent should be pulled forward a touch. This may or may not be noticeable. It is inducing some stress on the axle housing, but how much would be difficult to tell.
I do believe you can buy stronger lower control arms for this reason... might replace it with this instead of a stock LCA.
Post a pic, that would help.

Just take that thing off. It doesn't do anything anyway. j/k. Depending on how badly it is bent it can pull your axle forward on that side and cause tire wear and alignment issues. That said, depending on how badly it is bent it may not cause a noticeable problem.
