My runner is dieing 22RE
ok so on my way to work today i pull up to a stop and my idle was under 500rpm ; when i started moving i had NO power nothing and no matter what i did. I could'nt get it above 2k after about 50feet it died. when i try to restart it it starts and then dies, unless i press the gas at the right time, and after that it won't idle Now when i left the house it was fine. now i have noticed that it runs much better when it's cold . i just had my fuel injectors cleaned and tested. my fuel filter was replaced this year and new plugs and wires in the last 1000 miles. it's a 91 4runner 5spd 22re.
at this point i am considering swaping in a different 22re if i can find one cheap

Did this just start happening all of the sudden? The only incident? CEL coming on?
Start checking for fuel delivery or vacuum leaks. There's three things you need; spark, air, and fuel. It's always one or more of the three.

did you check your MAF? maybe you have a vacuum leak, maybe a passage is clogged. these engines seem to be like my iguana... they are masters of being sick and hiding it until its a VERY serious problem. from what you said about it running better when its cold, that leads me to believe its an air related issue. maybe dirty air filter, dirty MAF, dirty intake, etc.

Hmmm....better when cold, right? Might have something to do with your coolant temp sensor, then. The engine will run richer with fuel until it warms, then it leans out the mix the warmer it gets. If it's not leaning out, you might be flooding. The sensor being bad will definitely affect power and running ability. Do you smell rich exhaust at all?

I had similar issues when my 02 sensor died. Check a FSM and there is a procedure for testing the 02 (checks if the voltage is oscolating) but i cannot remember it off of the top of my head.

i just did the timing it's at 8 BTDC.
i unpluged the o2 sensor before i left for home and it set the cel.
it will not idle warm or cold now.
i have a feeling it's has something to do with air leaking in post maf.
