Any sr5 owners out there?

DOES ANYONE HAVE AN SR5 THAT THEY MIGHT BE WILLING TO PEEK BEHIND THEIR LIGHTER AND SEE WHERE THIS BULB GOES?

The dealerships, and the diagrams, are at a loss.

...unless someone has a complete service manual. ?

The UPT900 pocket came in today from Crutchfield.
Supposedly, this is supposed to be the PERFECT fit for the pocket on a T100 under a single DIN head unit. So far with Crutchfield I’m skeptical as of late, but I’ll let you know.

Crutchfield got this one right.

Skepticism aside, it’s 100% the perfect fit for the T100.

Well it looks like a goodly amount of work has been accomplished. You really going to keep the Alpine instead of the good ol' factory AM, FM, Cassette player. ? Well to each his own

Well, it's been 2 weeks and this whole project is coming to a crashing halt over this little tiny light bulb.

I can't continue until the dash is done, and I can't finish the dash until I figure out where this bulb is supposed to go.
Since NOBODY seems to know anything about these trucks at all, there's nowhere to get the info.

So, this bulb might be the end of this thread.

I'll continue to work on the project of course, but it was at this moment that I realized I'm wasting my time documenting this in a forum that nobody watches. lol.

Who says no one watches?!?

I am, right here!

Unfortunately, I do not have a T100 to look at, so I don't have much to contribute to this thread. If I had a T100, I would look to see how my dash illumination is set up and compare to your truck.

However.....

If you buy me a mint 1997 T100, I would be willing to tear apart the dash to look for where that bulb is supposed to go!

I doubt it, but does any of your local auto salvage yards have a T100 you could look at?

I have found a half dozen T100's, but NO SR5's.
And it's definitely an SR5 thing.

I dont have an SR5 so all I can say is it looks really cool and I know how loud these things can get so i like seeing the cab wrap youre doing. I also didn't realize you can get those hinges for the rear windows. I gotta replace mine because someone popped it open to steal my tools (no nice things, as you know already). Whatsup with your thing about sliding rear glass? Just curious. When these idiots broke into my truck, it looks like they tried the rear glass first and couldn't get it open. Or maybe they were just trying to bend it so it looked ugly.

This forum isn't super active, especially on the build threads but I bet if you post a question in the general topic area you might find someone who knows. If you already did this then obviously I'm not paying attention.

I wish I could provide some input as well, but I don't have a T100

Regardless, I subbed and am loving watching all this work. I want to do some similar sound-proofing. Does that repackaged Dynamat hold up well in the long run? You put down foam insulation and completely tape over it?

I have been steadily punching away at the T100. Removing the aftermarket oil pressure and temp gauges has been a giant pain in the ass.

I’ll get back on the photos shortly.

But honestly, the biggest issue I am having is going insane over the mystery of this little light by the cigarette lighter.

It makes no sense that nobody knows where it goes.
I’m going to end up spending hundreds on a factory service manual with my fingers crossed that it will be in there.

Have you confirmed that the mystery light turns on when the headlights are turned on? If so, we know that the lamp is for back lighting / illumination for something in that area.

What are the wire colors? Are they the same colors as the wiring for illumination lamp for the ash tray?

Was the mystery light just laying in the wiring mess you found behind the dash trim panel?

I am still thinking it is for a cigarette lighter backlight ring.

Can you post some pictures of the dash trim pieces in that area (as well as switches) so we can narrow down the possibilities? That would be helpful.

It is possible that the previous owner swapped out parts from a different T100 and had no place for the light.

I wish I knew more about the T100s.

Oh, and I am glad you decided to come back and update this thread!

Mystery solved

I swung by a random scrapyard today and found the most amazing T100 that someone scrapped just because the rear end went out. The rest of the truck was incredible. Maybe one of the best I have ever seen. Perfectly straight. Must have been garage kept. Not one spot of rust, not even on the front end bolts. Truly amazing.

I spent the day picking it apart. Even took the bed. Straightest one I’ve even seen.

SR5.

yes.....

The lighter on the SR5 is different.

They all have the green ring, but only the SR5 has the place to put a bulb in it, and has the little harness with the extra light.

Sweet!

You got lucky with finding a T100 in the scrap yard, even SR5 to boot!

The cigarette lighter is the only thing in that area that I am aware of that would use a light like that, other than the ash tray that already had its own light.

I am glad the mystery is solved and you contributed to the much needed T100 information bank!

Sooooooooooo.. I went back.

I couldn’t help it. The T100 in the scrapyard was way too straight.

So, I snatched the bed.

And I snatched a perfect set of tail lights and 3rd brake light for $5.

...and I snatched this harness..

This runs from under the carpet (under driver seat) to the fuel neck, tail lights, brake lights, reverse lights, and license plate lights.

This harness is not available from Toyota any longer. If you see them, take them. Keep them. Love them.

But most importantly...... THIS HAPPENED.

Words cannot explain the amount of ASS PAIN the guy who put this in caused me.

I had to replace the engine water outlet because of how he tapped in the sensor.

I had to replace the oil pressure sensor on the block and retap the block.

I had to pull the steering gear and steering shaft completely out and replace the steering shaft seal on the firewall because he ran the wires through that seal.

There’s more, but just know...

If I’m ever in Autozone and I see someone buying one of these “gauge clusters” I’m just going to punch them right in the mouth.
