The transfer case has been making an intermittent noise lately. Yesterday on the highway going to Turkey dinner it became more noticeable at 60+MPH. Pretty sure it is the out put shaft bearing.
Instead of dumping $$ into fixing the auto T/C (transmission is working awesome) and my eventual goal was to put the dual cases from The trekker in the 4runner, the missus and I talked it over and I got the go ahead to get the Inchworm auto to geared case adapter. I was dreading it because it seemed like the price was just going up.
Well I will say thank God it is Black Friday. Dunno if the adapter was already on sale but it was $325 from Low Range Off Road with an additional 5% off with free shipping and a free T-shirt
I'm so glad that was just a close call and nothing more!
Thanks, with how spongy the rear springs are going a little sideways was interesting.

Yessir, by the Hillsboro Fred Meyer right before Century.
My daughter got a good look at the lady that almost pulled out in front of us, she said she looked like she need to change her shorts
Finished up 2nd gen LED conversion 2.0
Came out better than 1.0 but could use a little improvement. I used too much epoxy and it ran down into the lens but the output is awesome over what I had
Glad to hear your guys didn't have a collision and nobody was hurt. Those are never fun!
I really like the lights, looking good!!!!
I am glad we didn't hit her, We probably would have caught her in the doors...not good for either of us.
one thing i like about having a dash cam if we had. Now if I could just get my wife to let me put one in her car. I have one for the back of the 4runner but need to finally wire power back there. Plug has been in for at least a year and a half

Don- for the lights I ended up ordering a set of new housings off ebay. I ended up cracking a few lens trying to separate them from the housing. It was easier to try a brand new cheap set
I was able to use the 4" hole saw I had when i did the round lights in the the Trekker. I wasn't able to get all the way through as I ended chewing up a little bit of the inside of one lens.
But it gave me a good outline and I was able to finish cutting the rest to get a rough fit using my dremel. The backside isn't pretty but if I ever make another set i know what to expect
Here is the parts list:
Housings I got on ebay
a pair for $50 shipped, over all quality is decent for the money and if I ended up destroying them during the experiment I wasn't out a ton of cash https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-Tail-L...5ZHca2&vxp=mtr
Brakes lights I was going to order some from Amazon like this, but I found a set of clear ones brake lights I used on the 81 at some point $25/pair
misc epoxy (i used too much and it dripped into the lens) $10-12 from Ace hardware
so realistic cost was $135'ish but I consider the cost to me more like $60-65 since some parts was stuff i had around few at least a few years.
I used a couple of housings that were the originals on the truck and a set i was given. Still have a couple i bought that will stay on the shelf for back ups. Had a guy ask me today where I got them when i was X-mas shopping. He said that I should have just used 3rd gen truck lights, nope not gonna work unless you do some body work.
I really enjoyed this thread and info . Frankly it cleared up some things.( Though I have to read fast because of time )
Im just having to make decisions on which way Im to go with yota 4x4. ( 1986 & 1992 ) Anyway, I didn't realize there was SO much to consider.
After toying with the idea of investing in a kinetic recovery rope and talking with a friend about a black Friday deal I decided to take the plunge and ordered a rope from https://www.spartanrope.com.
they are a company based in the Portland area and products have come highly recommended.
the guys at Spartan Rope went above and beyond and personally dropped off my order. I am truly sorry I missed them.
can't wait to put this thing to use this winter!
This thing is better built than the other ropes I had considered.

Beautiful rope! The splicing and that soft shackle look so nautical. No doubt the splicing is good; that's how they do it for mooring lines of big ships. However, I'm wary about the soft shackle. They use many of them to attach a sail, but for for one, thinner than the rope at that to hold the weight. Scary.

Thanks, looking forward to using it. This thing is built well. Sparton Ropes product line is pretty limited at this point but I have seen some nice smaller ones for quads. They would definately do the trick

Thanks Ray! the craftsmanship impressed me too. I hear you about the size of the soft shackles. The vast majority of them I have seen have been smaller diameter rope. I will definitely be using a winch blanket on the ropes when I use any shackle,

Rob,
Are they Portland based? If so I think I may see if they would like us to sell there product. Your happy with the stuff? If so I will order and do a review.

Don- i had looked at a few synthetic ropes like this the last couple of years. The quality of this rope is pretty dang good. Not a lot of places you will find the splices tied still. In the army we tied off splices like that, great feature on top of the normal just threading the splice back into the main line. I know a couple of guys that have this one, one that has used his several times and prefers it over some of his ARB straps.
Finally got off the iphone and fired up the laptop; just got caught up on your build thread. Really like the LED tail lights! Think that's going on my to do list.

Thanks Muddpigg! It really is a huge improvement over the stock output. I wish I could find a set of clear housings that didn't break the bank I could use on version 3.0
