Speaker baffles?

Like these. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...affles&x=0&y=0

Anyone use them? Planning on upgrading the speakers/head unit in the 89 and was thinking that those baffles would help protect the speakers a little and maybe act like a "box" for the 6x9's that are going in the rear. Not looking for huge bass here just something that I can turn up a tad to drown out the road noise.

Looking at these speakers, advice on a head unit would be appreciated.

Don't think it's worth the extra few bucks there BBP? I'd think they'd help keep the speakers from collecting dirt and crap on the magnets.

They limit the air nessasary for the speaker to make noise. Just saying...the rear cargo area makes good thump. I'm still using the OEM amp'd rear speakers in my junk. Actually....I don't remember. I went to the pod speakers because I couldn't hear the speakers but I don't remember if they are still running...anywho, with the pod speakers and 10" jerry can sub and OEM front speakers my junk is LOAD and gansta...

BBP, Ah that does make sense (I know nothing about car audio stuff). I do like the heck out of your pods and that damn jerry can sub just makes me smile everytime I think about it. Only a Toyota nut would mount a speaker in a jerry can.......

I'm just looking for something that sounds better than what I have now and will last a while. Tired of the bzzzzzz bzzzzzzz bzzzzz when ever a bass note hits.

I'm tellin ya, keep it simple. If you put speakers in the place where the oem ones' are...you're not gonna hear them when you pack that thing up....

I have 4 inch boston acoustics components up front. Awesome.

I could never hear the 6 inchers I had installed in the rear walls, even when they were amped.

You have seen my soundproofing in my runner. ( I hope) still no help, especially on the freeway, top off.

Switched to the pod speakers. They are lower end alpine 6 inch components. They are now louder then the Boston Acoustics, which I love.

Soooooo,

Pioneer head unit with ipod hookup
4 inch BA components, stock dash location
6 inch Alpine components, pods on rollbar
4x60 rms kenwood amp to run em

12 inch alpine sub, ported box
1x520 rms bridged (turned down) kenwood amp to run it.

sounds like BBP's. Both loud, clear, and full stereos that didn't break the bank.

If you do the jerry can sub, remember to peel and seal the inside of the can. Just saying.

good use for a Jerry can....

A Nato can on the other hand will only be use for fuel.. (unless it leaks(and they don't))

And Ricky, I've always been a pioneer guy. But everyone has there own takes, for various reasons. Just make a list of options you want, then find one that has what you want built in. Pioneer used to have a sound level analyzer. It had an internal mic that monitored road noise. So when you pulled off the freeway and the noise dropped, the stereo went with it. That was a couple decks ago. Now I stick with them bc I am used to the controls.

Did you do the same kind of pods that Logan did?

edit: Just found that thread where you got some wake board tower speakers. So with that in mind I sent an email about these. http://nmi.craigslist.org/boa/2350342011.html

Lets see what happens.

Wow. And I thought my single 6 1/2 set cut into my cargo capacity.

ive been thinking about those for my 4" rounds in the front, i wonder if you cut the back out of them and put some screen material, and pantyhose then RTV black it down and paint it flat black, would that give enough air space, and still protect it still?
