WOW i dont usually look into SAS threads, but this one is interesting as heck!

I noticed you are in Sammamish. I am up here in Arlington, and plan on doing a 3.4L swap soon. I also plan on doing a SAS on my 87 4runner. For the 3.4L i will prolly get most the new parts from the dealer, but I will have to buy the ORS harness. I know nothing of wiring!

Ya you work at Nix99 right? I actualy bought the axle there for the SAS

I learned wiring in High School for my senior clasee project a few years ago. I build a guitar effects pedal from complete sratch. I could help you some with the wiring all you need is the diagrams from both trucks to make the adapter harness. Its really not that hard it just takes some time so if you dont have that then the ORS harness is probably the way to go. I dont really know about the whole kit but its probably best to source all the parts from the dealer or other areas instead.

Thanks for looking

I had very limited wiring experience when I did my swap as well. I had ORS bookmarked in case things didn't work out, but Fillsrunner is right, the wiring itself actually isn't that bad. I think I had to connect maybe 10 wires from the 3.4 to the 3.0 4Runner. If you can save money on the harness, you'll be able to budget for all sorts of upgrades if you wish.

I have some tips here if you haven't seen the thread already.

Keep the pics coming. Massive amount of work you have done.

The whole kit from ORS is high quality, and all OEM parts where possible.

but, I get a 30% discount from the dealer. that $20 hose prolly costs me $8, and the other parts are much less as well.

I may get ahold of you just for some help in doing the 3.4 swap. you went much farther than i plan on, in terms of drivetrain lift, etc etc. I am doing the 3.4L swap in a DD of mine.

My swap is going into an 86 22RE 4Runner. Nothing 3.0 even existed yet lol. I have to figure out everything from wiring to tach to trans and beyond. I will most likely be keeping the 99 5Sp, and just getting an adapter to put the RF1A gear drive case behind it. I think marlin sells the adapter for $400. Otherwise, I have to get a whole new 3.0L or T100 trans, and the cost is a wash.

Ya let me know Im always down to help a local member or any yota. Dont get me wrong the ORS entire kit is great quality plus they have tons on knowledge on there work. I just found that most parts from there kit i would have either had to change or i would not even use them.

With my Intake were i put it I was able to keep my Battery in its stock location so the small things like the tray and belts, hoses, ect were just not needed. Everyones swap is different it just depends on what you plan on.

Ya just get the adapter and put the stonger gear drive case behind it with the passanger side drop. Fabbing some new mounts shouldnt be to hard since you have the 22re. I think the 22re wiring should be very similar and maybe even easier. The tack mod should be the same as well. I have a pic of the resistor needed and were you need to solder it too.

Again im glad to help if you need some

[QUOTE=fillsrunner4;50708039]How it sat

I think it was very skinny with the 12.5 35's on 8"wide wheels(i should have gone with 10" but this helped fit through some of the WA State tree trails

Out on the trails

ya not at the moment however I was up snow wheeling with a few buddies and saw some sick rigs. It was a contest to see who could make it farthest up the trail by 3pm at tonga ridge. we had the lead in the least modded rig there. single cab SAS yota on my 37's. The iroks aired down to 0psi never lost a bead and work outstanding.

Ill post pics of it since my build is a bit on hold

Thats "crashin" Kenny Bates. He is friggin nuts. He used to have a chevy 4.3L in there, but he blew that to pieces. Silly bastard keeps blowing up his R&P too. I race Figure 8 with him at evergreen.

Some more pics

Thats my buddy Jeff. His passeger is his brother Jake who I work with at Nix99. He has done all the steel work on all my race cars, and on crawler. He did all the fab work on his 4Runner too. That thing is SICK. He recently blew his front R&P up too, and runs a Hi-Po FJ80 diff.

Truck stuck so we pass

It looks like Jeff is pushing you lol.

His rig really is quite amazing. I wheeled with him back in the day, and he is the most helpful nicest guy you could ever meet.
