Had some things come up and I won't be heading out this weekend.

He is around. He just dropped an ARB in our race truck and documented it here. He was very well priced too, but we brought the parts to him. Totally anal about his work which is exactly what we need.

Check gearinstalls.com - that is Zuk's website.

Currently states "The Arizona heat is on now so I will be back from fishing in Sept/Oct." but shoot him an email if you are interested.

O.k..... So, as I'm finding out... working on these old Yoters is kinda like doing plumbing work. You start on something only to find out - You gotta do five other things around it also!!

Now that that's out of my system here's what we did: New Timming chain (W/ Metal Guides), new Timming chain cover, new water pump(OEM), new oil pump and new plug wires... The rest of what I intended to do will have to wait for the $$$ stash to be replenished.

Here's some pics:

Butcher is pretty much all "closed" minus the easy trail to the 1st cove. I passed a jetta on the way up there last weekend. Makes for a bunch of people that don't belong on a trail...

Hopefully it doesn't get as bad as the tanks have been lately.

Hey fellas, I had an idea to help some of us older farts keep names and rigs straight. If you're willing to play along, check out the thread below. Thanks.

So the trail to the further back second cove is closed off?

No, not yet, but the coves beyond the 2nd are all closed - so you can get to the first and second but thats it. I saw a Hyundai car and a VW rally bug at the first cove a few weeks ago. The trail to the 2nd cove hasn't been plowed down to a nice smooth, car worthy path.....yet

Cool! Now that the front of my engine is rebuilt, I'm hoping to find a pair of seat belts (rear) and to replace the wheels and tires. (Current tires are cupped terribly) Hopefully they won't plow the way to the second cove before I get these minor items handled...
BTW... Anybody know where to get seat belts w/o having to order? I'm open to anywhere in the Phoenix area. The fam is itching to get this ??llama?? up and running

Ok... So I go to the 35th and Lower Buckeye area... Have my fam along with and we stop at this yard where I see a 2nd gen, from the road... We call em and they say they have some 2nd gen 4runners and probably have some lap belts... So, I, with the fam in tow go in and are walked (escorted is more like) by a boy that couldn't have been over 10yrs old, at least a hundred yards into this lot to find a few 4runners... And we found that they did have useable seat belts.. YEAH!!

So we walk all the way back so the boy can tell someone to go pull the belts. He speaks with two different guys. (all in spanish) After speaking with the second guy the boy turns to us and says $75... SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS

We didn't even bother to try and negotiate...

I figured, "why bother?" I can buy new ones for $25 each. I just don't want to have to order and wait...

So... up the road we went. A couple blocks down the road my wife sees a bill-board for Pull-A-Part and says "Hey that's where we got the replacement light for the Avalon!" She looks em up, via web on her phone, and calls em. They say, "Oh yeah, we have em... $15 bucks each set."

Well, we head there. I walk 40 min in the sun. Find 3 4runners and... only one useable seat belt...

What the??

While walking back through the lot, I find an 80s Camry... Hmmm...

I dig in. Check the bolts and set ups... MATCH!!

Blanketed in sweat, I take my two sets of belts to check out. The adorable young lady at the desk says that'll be $10 - ALL IN! So $2 to scrounge around the yard and $10 for two sets of belts.

Mission accomplished

Wheeling this weekend?

Hey everyone. Trying to get something set up of this weekend. I was thinking about running Desoto Mine or Payette Draw. Would anyone be up for something? I know it is short notice, but figured it was worth a shot.
