Just FYI - Copperstate Fourwheelers is doing a weekend camping/trail clean up at Payette Draw this weekend.

 

Love to make a run, but Payette is way over my skill level! Plus the SC'd truck still has a CEL for the knock sensor and now the rear-end is making a clicking/rattling noise that has me nervous. Need to change the diff oil and lube all my joints this weekend. May even tackle the LCA bushings I ordered for it.

 

DeSoto is probably on fire. Definately check on the fire situation before you head out.

 

Made a run out to Butcher Jones Nice area. Was Wednesday morning early. We (Had my son w/ me for his 21st B-day) arrived at the second cove close to 8a.m. We were the only folks on land in the area... Caught a mess of bluegill and headed back out around 1pm.Was a great first trip in the 4Runner

Heading up to Horsthief Basin Lake in the morning to spend Dads day cooling off a bit and check out Crown King post-fire. Taking the Anthracite truck to keep the cost down....

The drive up there was a bit sad seeing all the destruction from the fire, but Crown King was still there!


Stopped at the Saloon for a cold one and then headed to the lake.



We threw baited hooks at the fish (we could SEE them) but they wanted nothing to do with Ballpark franks....


Definitely on my short list of favorite spots in AZ, we were the only ones there the entire day...

No wheeling involved, just graded dirt roads, could have taken a Honda up there no problem!

The only reason I sold the truck was to put more money down on a house. I actually closed on the house today. It was a 3rd vehicle and made sense financially to get rid of it.

As for mudding, it is fun however I never really got the chance to do any mudding. I think the deepest mud i went through was about 3 inches. I mostly enjoyed taking the truck out to the mines by table mesa. taking a cooler full of food, some friends and some guns. I only got to really wheel it once on the way up to Packer with the AZFJ guys.

So project house will be commencing as soon as I leave work today and ending never.

btw, i saw you bombing down Olive yesterday out in Surprise. truck looks good. it caught my eye and I saw the CB Channel stickers on the back in my mirror.

EDIT: Guess i have to update that signature huh? lol

We may be making a run up there next week. Seems there will be a Pony Express reenactment...

here's the new kitchen. still looking for a suitable black fridge (they are freakin expensive).

I'll be back in a 4x4 in a year or so though. Thinking of getting into a newer 4door Tacoma. but I have to wait on the $$.
