Thanks for the info. She have auto tranny so It would be just like yours. I have the aussie on rear of the TLC but since the rig is full time 4wd, without the diff lock engaged it is almost like having a selectable locker so I don't notice it on the street and the KM2s look like new after 8k miles.

Had a great time at Surf and Turf, had a few mishaps though. First of all, my PA came off it's mounts on the inside of the fender and got lodged up against the headers. Started smelling burnt plastic and smoke coming from under the hood, I expected the worse. Had to laugh over this one. Funny thing is it still works!

Then my lower ball joint bolts took a dump. I'm guessing the constant mobbing on the dunes at 65 loosened them, then a hard hit to a foot tall ledge on a midnight taco bell run tweaked them. This has happened before, I blame cheap bolts. The Duralast ball joint bolts came out on my last pismo trip, and I replaced them with Ace hardware bolts. They just wernt designed for these kind of forces.

Inspecting them on the morning I discovered the problem

After I determined it wasnt safe to drive 250 miles home, I got a free ride

So heres what the bolts look like afterwards.

The one on the left is one of the bolts that came with the Duralast ball joints. I replaced it with the one on the right, which is from Ace Hardware. Both failed obviously. While in Utah the last week I swung by a Toyota dealership and picked up all new grade 8 OEM bolts, so this should solve my problem. just glad the threads up inside the spindle wern't damaged.

It's a Dana 44 out of a Jeep Wagoneer, exactly what I'm gonna need if I SAS this thing. Not saying thats the route I wanna go just yet, still got my head wrapped around LT. But at least I have it

Tossing it in the pile of other stuff I've accumulated for future projects for the 4runner.

Thanks bud, its nice to hear that coming from you. If we lived closer, I'd trade you for awhile lol

Yeah I'm still pretty content on the LT. I got the axle for free, I probably will sell it later for more mod funding. A friend of mine on here wants to SAS, maybe I'll give it to him

The more I think about it and research it, the more I want to turbo my 4runner.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4jOT...ayer_embedded#!

Pure awesomeness

Still having trouble wraping my head around how a remote turbo system works, clownmeat on this forum seems to have done it well and seemst to get some nice power out of it.

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/t...t-done-243213/

With the research I have done it looks like I could turbo my 4runner for much cheaper than supercharging it, and get more power out of it at the same time. I just can't see what the benefit of it being under the truck is instead of being up under the hood. I'll have to ponder this one...

I think one of the big advantages of a supercharger over a turbo charger are that the superchargers don't have hardly any lag if any. The fan is run off of the crank. Turbos use the exhaust gas to spin up one side of the fans which has a delay to build up the pressure.

Kinda sad day for the 4runner. Had to pull out the Aussie locker because it keeps eating tires so fast. I couldn't justify spending $1100 on tires every year just to get 20k miles out of them. So now I am left with open diffs and bald tires, I'm almost afraid to drive it in the snow until I get new tires.

Interestingly, all the springs in the Aussie had sheared off, leaving all the pieces on the bottom of my diff and keeping me permanently locked. This is why I was eating through tires much faster than other people with a lunchbox locker, the locker was never disengaging.

The hunt begins for the e-locked axle New tires will definitely come first, but the plan is to have the elocker by mid to late January. Still sucks being open for that long though.

I'll be getting a stock Toyota e-locked axle and just swapping it for my axle. That way I can mod the axle before I put it in, at least some diff and motor armor and maybe some stronger shafts and change out the seals. I just gotta figure out what harness I need to run, I think I'm gonna run the harness Mktaco_98 has on his tacoma, but still not quite sure...

fj40, exactly what mods are you talking about? The only mod I know of is the grey wire mod, which like you said makes it run when you want it to

Guess its modded but not really inchworms wiring harness puts it on its own seperate system no grey wire mod or computer to hook up its set up a lot like a ARB air locker just flip the switch and it comes on doesnt need to be in 4wd at all it will work in 2wd

need to do a better write up than whats on my build thread lol

I do mean the grey wire mod, but have not done it. I just wasnt sure its as simple as grounding that wire.
I would love to have a switch to activate the e-locker, that would be sweet.
