hab in takeing mine apart the only thing I found like a spacer would be the sleeve for the stater ring. I have pics.

ok so this wheel bearing thing turned into a little bigger job than anticipated. not a bad job with the proper tools but I didnt have the proper tools. The bed on my press was just not wide enough for the job so a good deal of time was spent trying to find someone else with a bigger press, once that was done the disassembly went smooth. I didnt get any pics in prosses but I took some pics after and will try and explain how we got it apart. I coulded get a bearing today so resassembly will have to wait.

start by removing the inner seal

we positioned plates between the hub and the knuckle tried to stay on the bolts that hold the backing plate on and pressed the hub out.

the stater ring and it spacer ring will stay with the bearing but once the hub is out they will be loose and you just pull them out.

at this point remove the front seal, I didnt get any pics of it in place but under the seal is a snap ring, be careful removeing it we broke both ears where you hook the plyers so we had to work it out with a pick and screw driver.

the shop I was at had a good selection of bearing drivers, so we found one that fit pressed bearings and race out together.

if you look inside the knuckle you will see a ledge that the race getts pressed up to.

I should be able to use my press to get it back together so I will be able to take pics of how it goes back together.

havent been able to get anything done on the runner in awhile, life just keeps happening. that said I have also been waiting on parts, napa seems to have had a run on the wheel bearings that I ordered because Ive been there twice to pick them up and they sold the ones they had ordered for me. I also just spoke with TOYTEC and now they are saying they have no idea when my springs will ship. Is ther another spring I can use with the bilstien shocks Ive already got?

Napa finally had my bearings and seals today so I got the picked up and installed, drilled out the brocken bolts in the knuckles and got the reinstalled. not a lot of progress but it all needs done.
after doing a bunch of research I have decided to go with the tundra springs and billie struts, I should have went this route all along but it takes me a while to catch on some times LOL.

Taking notes on your wheel bearings for when the time comes, nice pics!

You weren't slow to catch, you were just trying out your options.

Nice work thus far, bubba.....

I think there IS such a condition we both share,......called "Murphy's Law" hahaha. It's almost as if I have trouble rembering a single mod or repair that didnt involve some "REALLY? IS THAT POSSIBLE, that going wrong/hanging me up???" - moment! Hehehe... PRESS IN, brother.... Nice work.

I have a similar situation with "life just happening". I have the new bearing, seal's and clip ready to go but no time. I found a place called VXB that claims to have just about every bearing possible...needed some for a belt sander and they had em...super cheap too. Just need the numbers off the side. If you call them, they'll help you out. Gonna try and see if they have em' for our rear axle and another one for the front...just have the one so far from the dealership but the price hurts when you're on a budget.

And the Tundra coils, if you bought the 4Runner struts, they might not work out. Pending where they came from, you might be able to exchange them for the Tundra's.? If you check out my BT I have a place listed that'll acquire the whole Tundra assembly and ship them out to you. Give em' a call they're good people there too. Just remember the correct color code, also in BT.

Oh, and if I find the correct bearing's at that site, I'll put a link here to incase other might be in need of em'.

Thanks for the input SS I hope the Napa bearings hold up, I just couldn't swing the Toyota ones right now.
As for the coils and struts I already have the Billie 5100 I just need the springs to go with them. If I understand correctly I also need the tundra isolater for the top of the spring.
I decided to have a buddy of mine set up the gears for me. He does these all the time so I trust him. I dropped the diffs off with him last weekend and he should have them done by the time I get back home fingers crossed.

I found a really good thread after I had mine apart. I will post a link when I get a chance. He used a way better way of getting the hub pressed out than I did.

Hahahaha, ..... TELL ME BOUT'IT!

For me, the mentioned law comes to fruition, most often, in the form of "TIME NEEDED" obstacles!!! lol...

I really AM looking forward to seeing this thing on trips, etc.! Keep at it, buddy.... never give up, unless of course you're just fed up. haha... BUT, then I KNOW you would be SO upset at yourself! hehe... So just keep at it, homie... and look for a call soon, maybe today.

Right, 4Runner top hat (the thing with the 3 bolts), Tundra shocks, coils and isolator.
And, good deal on having a buddy able to set gears for you...bet he's charging a case of import beer, no?

Yeah, if it wasn't for a buddy working at Toyota, I would've put off buying the new bearings. Don't know what kind of a discount he gets, but I bet it's better than mine...plus, he can grab em for me and hand deliver em to.

Looking forward to the link on the removal of bearing to...we have a 40ton press at work so the only problem is how to press those stubborn things out with the right arbor plates.

I like how he uses a socket to push out the hub...I assume that's the part you're talking about? Either way, the dude has to have massive arm strength..

And crazy ambition/ingenuity/motivation. His build thread was awesome before he took it down.

Good luck with the bearings. I've heard they're a pain.

If I had took pics of how I got mine apart I could explain it better, the 2 jaw puller he used to press the hub out is what I thought was cool, the way we had to rig plates on the press was unsafe to say the least. the hub pressed out suprisingly easy and once it was out it was easy to set up to press the bearing and race out.

Twice now TOYTEC has talked me out of canceling my order, monday they swore they would have them by wed. Yesterday afternoon I got a phone call and was informed they had them in stock and were going thru the backorders shipping them in they order that the orders came in. 15 mins later i get 2 emails one was shipping confirmation the other the tracking info from fedex. The should be there by the time I get home. I also wanted to say that although I was frustrated with the situation TOYTEC is a great com to deal with and would still recommend them to anyone.
