So I've been working hard trying to get a few things buttoned up after finally getting the old girl out of my buddy's shop and back in mine, before running the Red Clay Rally in a week or so.
I finally finished up the OBA, pretty happy with how it came together, it's not supper fast but it works and I will have air when needed.
Installed a new old inverter since my the one I had gave up on me, the new one is a 750 watt and the old one was only 450 so that a step up.
I had posted before about doing a couple different things with my rear bumper. Well I simply don't have time to get it all done but I did start on part of it, I have wanted to change my recovery points for a while, the D rings just aren't the best and I wanted a bow shackle point so that's what I moved forward with.

Also finally put a coating on my storage box, still have to do the drawers and a couple other removable parts but I'm happy with how it looks

Some time back the admins here on Yotatech and the great folks at IB ask me if I would be interested in reviewing a new tire from Yokohama, of course I said absolutely I would.
In the meantime I knew I was needing a set of tires so I picked up a set of Firestone Destination M/Ts just in case the Yokohama deal didn't happen well as it turns out I'm now able to do a comparison between the two.
The first pics are the Firestones they are 315/70/17s load range E

My initial impression of the Yokohamas was WOW!!! I didn't know whether these were a M/T an A/T or what, no body knew what they looked like or even the style like I said.

They are a very aggressive M/T, with what I would consider an older style lug pattern, but a pattern I happen to really like.
I chose to go with a standard 35/12.50/17 with these, still a load range E.

I will be getting these mounted up on a set of 17 inch Tacoma wheels until I can find something a little better.

I will be posting my thoughts on these, in this thread as well as discussing them in depth on the podcast so look for lots of info.
I will post up more info as soon as I can, true height, weight etc.

Jason-it was great to get that text message from you friday night saying that the tires came through. They look great! I am anxious to hear your feedback on them!

Holy thread revival, Batman! Jason is a friend of mine through our Land Cruiser club and I bought his 4runner from him a couple of years ago. We have been doing a bunch of maintenance on it and cleaning things up. We've really had a blast with it. My 17 year old son currently drives it and he's learned a lot more about trucks and mechanics since we've added this one to the stable. We've been on a few wheeling trips with it and seem to break less stuff now than we used to (I'm used to my solid axle Land Cruisers!). Thought y'all might appreciate some pictures and an update since many of you were invested through this forum in helping him to build it up. Cheers!

This is so awesome! Was wondering how things were going with this truck just the other day, thanks for posting and for most future posts (hint hint).

I have a question about ball joints. My driver side OEM LBJs failed after only a few thousand miles and a couple of wheeling trips. We do wheel kinda hard, but usually no bouncing or anything too crazy. Is this normal for a 3rd gen on 35s? I'm still learning the 4runner world. Are there any stronger than OEM options for LBJs?

After having Rocket City Cruisers (in Huntsville) do some work on the 4Runner it's much tighter and handles better now - brake overhaul and troubleshooting, new upper and lower LBJs, shock bushes, rear ujoint replaced, removed the front auto-locker (lessen chance of broken CVs, yay!), and a couple of other little things. We took it out this weekend and it performed very well. We also took the white 80 series. Here's a few pics!
