Well I decided I had a big enough pile of parts I better get started on this front end. didnt get a lot done but I did get started. I got the driver side knuckle removed the upper BJ pressed out [ I love haveing my own press, great investment] and the new joint pressed in. I broke off the 12mm bolt that holds the brake line stable so I have to drill that out and clean it up. Im still debating on the control arm bushings it seems like these parts never end. Like I said not a lot done but work beckons so Im headed back out hopfully I can get this buttoned up soon. thanks for checking in.

I don't think the phrase ( timely manner ) can even sort of apply to my projects.

Do your bushings look like their in ok shape? I've heard good things about the energy suspension bushings, and they're relatively cheap, BUT only get them if you're sure you've got stock bushings. You've got to reuse the metal parts from the stock bushings and if they're aftermarket it might not fit correctly.

everything went really well no issues to speak of. most of the parts on the driver side seemed in ok shape, pasenger side wasnt bad either except the inner tie rod, the outer boot was leaking a bit but still tight. I did discover another problem that Im probably just going to have some one else fix, the wheel bearings on the pasenger side seem loose somthing for sure is any way, I will just take knucle and all to a buddies shop and let he do what needs done.
I got my new shocks and spring ordered over the weekend, bilsteins front and rear, toytec springs for the front, the springs are back ordered but they swear I will have them by the middle of march witch meens I should have them just in time to get it all back together. I still have to order thr gears upon inspection of my brake rotors they will need replaced but I think the parts list is winding down.

Jas- My front wheel bearings are starting to moan too...I'll post a couple links that I've been gathering knowledge from...so before you put the knuckles back in touch with the BJ's, replace both bearings, it's worth it while you have em apart. But, they're around $50.00-$60.00 per side and a sealed bearing.

Did my BJ's and inner/ outer T-rods not to long ago so now I'm kicking my self cause they'll have to be replaced again. Thank goodness I grabbed a 4WD balljoint press when I did it.

Lol no the Napa brake pad box is empty, I think they went on my brothers pickup, I'm just kind of a horder when it comes to small sturdy boxes. And yes I'm a dedicated smoker, I've tried many times to quit just ain't happening.

Really important, at least on the 96 where they don't use spacers, they use spaces:
Pay close attention to where everything sits on the shaft. Right and left are the same so you could do one, then the other. That way you'd have a pattern to copy.

I had a shop press mine after I pulled the shafts and they screwed it up by pressing everything all together rather than space them out properly.

Is it the same on the 97, with the spaces? I've always been curious about that, but haven't even pulled the 99's axle to see about that year, either.

Hmm hab I'm not sure, back to do more research. The way it was explained to me was the bearing was press up tight to a landing and the hub simply press in from the other side. I can seem to find any info on these everything I come up with is for 05 and up and they are defiantly different. Thanks for bringing that up.

Ah, you're talking front and I am talking rear? In that case I am going to learn from you because I haven't been there yet. Yet.

That last pic of the rear with the axle missing threw me off. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Ah it all makes sense now lol, I can understand your confusion after all I have this tore apart from one end to the other. But yes I'm doing the front bearings. I'm just trying to get parts put on as they show up.

I've seen a couple of threads on the front bearing replacement, specifically on which way something (the spacer?) went. Tried to search for them but was search-failed. I'm looking forward to your report on it as I'm sure I'll be referring to your experience.
