#461
ok im sure my question can be answered somewhere on the forum but i cant find it on the search engine so i figured i would ask you guys since u geared your runner already. (along with every other mod i want to do... >_>) so i talked the wife into helping me get 5.29's for my 97 4runner and im wondering if the front is an 8" and if i decide to sas later with a 1st gen axle if i can use the same gears in the front? also anyone ahve some suggestions on brands for front and rear? i was thinking yukon in the rear and maybe something cheaper in the front if i wont be able to use it when i do the sas. please thank you ... sorry if im hijacking your thread

Careful what you wish for!
I'm so excited to run Chinaman's, it's been over a year and it's been driving me crazy!
Me too, I was looking forward to watching you take your truck through the trail! Let me know when you want to run it and I'll try to make it, I'm sure Cory will be there as well.

I for sure will. I ran part of it in November and have really wanted to go back to run the rest.

So I took the 4Runner on its first trip up Chinaman’s! It’s one of my favorite trails, and it’s been almost a year and a half since I’ve run it. It’s also the first time I took the 4Runner on a harder rock crawling trail.

It was a great day to be out on the trail, and I can’t wait to go again! The 4Runner worked awesome, better than I expected. I was able to take most of my favorite lines without an issue. I didn’t take any pictures, but Aaron took plenty.

No damage, the rig worked really good. It does set a lot lower than the last rig so the the skid plates got a little love, along with the massive stock muffler. I've been planning on replacing the stock muffler for a while, and I have a Flowmaster Delta Flow 50 series that will replace it when I get time. I also see the Budbuilt belly pan getting some serious use in the future, so I'm going to pull it back off and add some extra bracing. The gas tank skid plate and LCA skid plates worked great!

Part of me feels sorry for Dirtco, his 4Runner is called Purdy and Bling Bling but the other side of me is jealous because he does his research and does it right the 1st time.
His is the kind of build I want to do someday. Cruise the narliest trails on the weekend and DD during the week..
