This 4Runner was a compromise; it's not a hardcore rock crawler, but it still does pretty good on the trail and does 80mph on the way there. It's comfortable, handles good, and is a joy to drive everyday. So far I'm very happy with the outcome!

Thanks man! It's been a lot of work, but it's been worth it. There's been issues and speed bumps along the way, but it's been a good learning experience.

I finally got in some good snow bashing! My main snow wheeling area got shut down, so I went and checked out a new area. The snow wasn't that deep at the beginning, but it got deep fast! There was a good 1'-2' over most of the trail, and some area's were over 4' deep!

I only got a few pictures because I was alone, and I didn't feel like wading though the deep snow. I did get some good video on my GoPro, but I still need to edit the footage.

They worked great! I'm very happy with them in the deep snow.

 

Did you have to get into the super charger at all in the snow?

Not to sound like a jerk but I doubt DIRTCO will reveal the location of this trail. It's a legit trail so it's not like it's not a publicly known place but all of his killer snow wheeling trails in Summit CO have gotten shut down or gated during the winter. He's just trying to keep this trail from getting shut down as well. DIRTCO snow wheels more than most of us on the dirt & rocks

That storm missed us, it's been a crappy snow year for us. Hopefully it gets better, we are only at 70% of average. It could still turn around, we can get a lot of snow in early Spring.

Volcom is right; it's best if I don't reveal the location. It's a legal trail, but if it starts to see a lot of travel it will get gated or closed like the rest of them. It's really sad that things have gotten to that point.

I dont blame you man, had alot of issues with that out where I am from. Its tough.

 

They close alot of the trails on my side of the pass for the winter too. Some really killer snow wheelin gets shut off and it sucks, so I totally understand the secrecy of this trail lol

 

I finally did the fog light modification; I’ve wanted to do this for a while and I finally found the time. I have my Rigid Industries Dually D2’s wired to the factory fog light harness. As you all know the factory fog lights only work when the low beam headlights are on, they will not work with the running lights or the brights. I bought the amber colored D2’s for the extreme snowy conditions I live in (they also work great in dusty conditions), the amber color does not have the glare back that normal colored lights do. I wanted the option of running the D2’s with just the running lights, that way I don’t have the headlights creating glare back in white out conditions.

It seemed like a simple project, so I didn’t bother taking my camera to the shop. Once I tore into it I realized that the wiring was different, along with the fuse locations. For my 99’ Limited I had to cut the red wire w/ yellow tracer that goes to the fog light relay and soldier the relay side of that wire to the black tail light wire. It was still a simple project, but if I had my camera I would have snapped a couple pictures for you guys.
