Wet Okole Installation

Alright guys, Wet Okole's came yesterday...I'm a little concerned about the color but I'm hoping it will look OK.

As for the installation...do I need to take any of the seat apart? Because I see the straps underneath the cushion but I'm not real sure how to get them down underneath the bottom cushion in order to strap them. I know I will have to take the seat out but that won't be able to happen until this weekend, so those of you who have done this on a 2nd gen with the sport seats with lumbar support and all that...was it very hard? It looks more complicated than I think it really is but I just wanna be sure I know what I'm getting into.

Thanks,

Fink

You can see the pics on my website and here in the Tech section.

Remove 4 bolts for each front seat, I think it was 4.
The fronts are much easier if you take the seats out, which takes less than 5 minutes.

Taking the fronts out makes the install go better.
The rears I did in the rig.

Taking the seats out is the easy part, I've done that countless times...its the actual act of putting the seat covers on...how do the straps get under the cushion? Do they go around the plastic sides of the seat or through the mechanism and down beneath?

Chris,

I think it's personal preference. I have used Wet Okes in my truck and I actually never removed the seats OR took them apart. I just loosened the straps to the maximum, found my way around, snapped them together, tighten, done!

I used to work up byt heir shop in Costa Mesa. When my seat covers were done I just drove over there and they put them in for free. They didn't take the seats out.

I suppose if that's your job all day long you get good at it.

Yes, taking the seats out is easy... but I've never bothered when putting my wet okoles on. I just feed the straps down between teh seat and the rails.

Given the fact that the seats take about 2 minutes to take out I will probably go ahead and just do this anyway...I will try and feed the straps down between the cushion and the rails but I'm not sure how much success I will have at this.

Thanks for all the replies!

P.S. - Cebby, I went ahead and got the Tan color in the middle, figured the black would be a little too much against an all tan interior...we'll see how it works, if I don't like it...I can probably return them.

You can look at my install I had Wet Okole do it for free - it's 4th gen but should be very similar. Hope it helps- really easy tho.

They used a hot knife to cut the excess strap length afterwards.

I wouldn't bank on returning them - especially after they are installed. I think those are made to order and are likely not returnable anyway. You should have listened to your old pal Cebby!

mine were so tight when i put them on, even if they looked hidious i would have kept them. they were so hard to put on, and i had the seats out. those things aint ever comin' off, unless they are cut off. as a matter of fact, the head rest covers were so tight, that the place where they connect with velcro ripped, but small luckily. you wont regret them though. they are super yummy. they do fade though. mine are now purple!

I'm hoping mine won't be too hard to get on...that'll be a project this weekend.

Right now I am suffering from one of the worst colds I've had in a LONG time and my voice is completely gone...I'm not a very happy camper!
