86runner acting crazy
Truck was great. No leaks or funny noises. Decent power for what it is. Then... noticed slightly low oil (checked bi-weekly for 6 months) and a light tapping noise on the way to work. Freaking out all day. On the way home it sounded worse. Pulling into the store by my house it was louder still. Come to a stop in my spot and notice a little smoke coming from the hood. Step out and notice more coming from the tailpipe. Then noticed a load of soot on the pipe. Look under the truck and see 20ft of Trans fluid trailing to the spot I parked. Looked like the trans drain plug was leaking. Only when I braked to park though. ? So, the tapping sounded like it was top back. Removed valve cover and everything looks okay. Did see a few small exhaust leaks down the line and one was on the manifold where I spied a missing nut. Replaced rotor and dis/cap. New wires and plugs. Put it back together and right away the tail pipe is spitting wet soot. After further inspection it seems like my crankshaft pulley is the tapping. Wasn't able to keep working today. Do i need to replace the harmonic balancer, pulley, crank? One or all? How can I tell if it's ruined? And any ideas on the other stuff though?

Wet pipe could be a few things :pun intended:
Could be over fueling such as an injector or carb :not specified: exhaust condensation or just plain ole head gasket or head.
Check oil levels for milkiness. Run compression test.
Does pipe dry up after it runs for a while or get worse?
Losing water?
Lots of questions to be answered

Color of smoke would help.
White is steam.
Blue is oil.
Black is fuel.
A mechanics stethoscope is cheap from Harbor Freight and can help locate noises. Still kind of vague on some of your symptoms.

It's a 22re. Oil looks good. Not losing any water. Took the radiator out this evening anyway. Crank pulley bolt seems good and tight. It was definitely the source of the tapping though. Could it have bent? The smoke was white.
