88 Yota owner needs help.....

Need some help guys. I have an 88 yota Pickup. (Standard Cab 4x4 5 speed W/FI 22RE)
My brake calipers on the front are shot. I'm looking for some place on the web to buy replacemt ones for a good price. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I'm also looking for an Exhaust header that will work with my setup. It looks odd though because it has a bar across the top of the header that goes around behind the motor. Anyone know what that is and can I still do a header with it on there?

Thanks for the help

I did the same thing, thanks.

I'm posting because I have no time to look through 150,000 sites. I'm asking if anyone on here has purchased from a site on the web and could recommend a place that has them for a good price and knows more about our trucks then just what the part number is. I have had a lot of problems getting parts for this truck with people sending me the wrong stuff. that is why i'm asking for a site people here work with and not doing a random google search anymore.

Looks like Importcarparts.com has the calipers. And the price is not bad at all. Do you think they are reliable on getting the right parts? I just don't want to have to send stuff back again.

Any suggestions on the header?

thanks

Why not just rebuild the old calipers? Caliper rebuild kits can be had for pretty cheap at the dealer.

That bar assembly above the exhaust manifold/header is the A.I.R system.

Air-Injection-Reactor. The metal tubes allow air to enter the combustion chambers (from the smog pump or the AVIS system if equipped) to allow for further burning of the A/F mixture in the cylinder for reduced emissions.

Any smog legal header will work with the A.I.R. system. Headers from Thorley, LC, Downey etc..

I was going to do a rebuild but once I took them off the truck I found that the pistons were seized on both sides and badly rusted. At this point I'm just wanting to go new for reliability.

On the header, will the new header have the bar piece or does that come off and get reinstalled on the new one?

Thanks for the help guys

Headers..

I think importcarparts.com should be fine for the calipers, though if there is an Autozone in your town you may want to check there "lifetime warranty"! As for the header, I was going to buy a set of Downeys for my 88 V6 but have not been totally convinced that it is worth it. If I have to take my engine out for any reason I will look into it then but for the small performance gain you get from them, the price and installation HELL doest seem totally worth it to me! My Borla cat back and K&N intake made a small difference though but that cost me over $700 so I guess its all in what you want to spend on your rig! Headers would be sweet but Im just not sure yet......

I would probably go with Thorley Tri-y style headers from Summit Auto if I had to do it over again. I found a used NWOR tri-y and really like it, excellent fit and finish. It made a big difference especially on the freeway. North West Off Road Products has a bad reputation for customer service and the price is really high, around $450.00 Alot of people really like the LC Engineering and the Downey Off Road Products headers as well. I would stay away from the inexpensive brands like the Pacesetter, they just arent made as well.

Good luck!

It comes off and you reinstall it on the new header.

If you get a 2.25" catback installed along with the header (highly recommended), you will get a noticeable difference in power. Alot more than just a K&N filter and/or catback alone. It'll feel like a whole new truck especially in 3rd gear.

Headers: I'd probably go with LC Engineering Headers. Their kit comes with everything including a new gasket. They cost about $300 + Shipping but their suposed to really great. I'm planning on gettin some soon.

OH!!!!!I thought he had a 3.0 also! Thats why I was against the header! A friend of mine has a 1989 3.0 auto ext. cab with the same cat back and intake as my 88 only he has Downey headers and to be honest with you the little gain he has in performance isnt worth it to me, unless I pull my engine, but then Im going to do a 3.4 swap anyway.... If I had a 4cyl I would have a full header/cat back exhaust system, I say go for it!

After doing some reading I went ahead and ordered the LC Engineering header kit. they were really cool and even threw in the sensor relocation kit for free. I'll be saving up for the Cat back and a high flow cat soon. Any suggestions on which to go with. i don't want anything to loud. Just nice smooth power.

Also, lots of guys talk about the K&N filter. Is that just a drop in replacement for the stock filter or a new intake setup. I say somewhere that they had a FIPK but it was mega expensive for an intake system

Thanks for the help guys.
