Finally joining the cruiser club!

Howdy all...

I have wanted an fjz80 since I bought my 93 4runner 15 years ago, today is the day I finally get to drive one home!

She's a 96, with 224k miles, front/rear e-lockers, leather yada yada... LOCKERS!

Paid $3k for her, and she's in decent shape. Needs some exhaust work, a fuel filler neck, and a deep (and when I say deep, I mean DEEP cleaning) but she's a solid rig. Very little rust, which is odd for Maine, especially considering I bought it close to the coast.

Anyway... here she is...

She rides smooth as butter, and has a bit more power than I expected.

I'm not new to wrenching, or yota's in general, but I have never had the pleasure of owning, or wrenching on a lc, so I'm sure I'll be checking in for tips.

1st order of bidness for this rig is a deep clean, she;s not filthy, but you can tell that the former owner bought a new rig last year, and just let the thing sit, prolly used it to go to the dump or something...

2nd is the exhaust... basically theres a hole in the cat, and its loud at 60... not terrible at 40, but LOUD at 60...

3rd... the stock radio has got to go... I remember when I swapped in a cheap $100 jvc deck from best buy into my 4runner, what a huge difference it made... I hope that holds true on this gem...

after that.. I'm just gonna go thru and do maintenance stuff... This is where I could use the YT knowledge... Where should I start, and what things should I be looking fof specifically? Clearly a compression check is in order, but based on how strong the motor feels, I'd say I'm good there.

Any tips or jumping off points will be greatly appreciated!
