tired of my IFS

man... i took my lil brother wheelin the other day... over some rutted hills and all... and he LOVED it. i had fun tooz... but the more i wheel, the more i learn about the limits of my truck. sigh..... IFS... freakin IFS!!! well, i decided that im going to get a solid axle swap sometime early next year and re raise my rear.

right now, im riding downey 3" and extended shackles. i need MORE!

so im thinkin of going with www.allprooffroad.com . 5.5" lift and solid axle swap. it will cost a little less then $3k, but ill save up for it! i cant wait! my truck is going to rock. the comfort and power of the newer trucks with the capability of solid axles!!!! YEAII!!!

Dibs on your rear springs and shackles!! How long are the shackles? Is your location Lakewood, Colorado or some other Lakewood? If you are in CO i'll come get them when you are ready to sell.

Also if you are in CO and have no plans for Sat the 7th, Click here for a trailride info.

Don't forget some sort of traction aiding device, like a locker! You can be as flexy and tall as you want, but lockers are going to be the key to getting you further!

thanks Azwildyota! i like it! the more i read about SAS, the simpler it seems to be. all you need is $$$

like kongs4x4 said, once u have the hangers in places, everything else just bolts on. the axle seems easy to put on, but how tough is it to add the steering? b/c if its not that hard, i will just get someone to weld on the hangers while my ifs is on, and then do the rest myself with the help of some of my buddies.

ooh about lockers, deffinitely gonna get front lockers. i already have rear ones, so all i need is to add the locker to the front diff... MORE $$$!!!

thanks guys!!!

I agree, you also might want to look into regearing with at least 5.29 gears with that auto tranny and 35's.

i already have it regeared to 456, and it does me good im probably going to stick with that. i dont really want to go to 529, it will make my mileage worse than it is, and take my top speed lower. but yeh,... also i have a manual 5speed.

thanks!!!

Oh you have a 5 speed, well that is definely a different story then. When I saw the AT in your sign line I thought it meant auto tranny.

joshik: I've been meaning to ask you where did you get your stuff for your current setup. I'm looking to lift my truck around the 1st or 2nd quater of next year and can't seem to find anything thats a decent price. Btw did you do it yourself?

hey krash! lucky for me, i got mine lifted. all i did was re lift the rear with downey 3" and extended shackles. the front is a trailmaster (aka trail disatster) drop bracket lift. all IFS lifts are expensive. downey makes a b*tching long travel IFS lift, i forgot how much travel they got, but it was NICE. with a NICE price too ,... of about $1000!!! Rancho makes a IFS lift too. i havent really looked into it though bc i want a SAS, which im probably going to do next year.

go for the SAS!!!!

hehe
