Newer Ride

Well guys been having trouble with my 94 pickup and was also trying to sell but had no luck but God made available locally a 2000 Runner so I went with it. I got $4000 trade for mine walked out the door with a new to me 2000 Limited auto 4x4 for 5378 after taxes and tags. So far I love this thing only things wrong that I can see are the antenna is stuck in the up position, the key fob does not work, and i get a vibration at 50 mph and above. All these seem to be easy simple things to fix. Anyway just wanted to say hi to the third gen runner crowd. Hope to keep getting great knowledge and help like I have in the past.

Who is God and how can I get in touch with him/her to get the same deal on a Runner like that?

God would pay you $4000 for your 55K truck too, if you had one

Well I'm not sure how you can get in touch other than just straight out asking but all I know is I did make out. They were asking 8975 for the Runner it has 91K miles on it. I drove it and asked how much he'd give for the truck and he says $3000. I countered with give me 4000 cause the timing belt will need done on the Runner and he surprisingly agrees! And to top it off I really got lucky because he didn't even drive mine or he would have noticed that it wasn't running perfectly. But the papers were signed and he gave me the keys and that starts the story of the new to me 4Runner!

Well, he could probably sell the truck faster than the 4Runner. But it seems like it was a good buy. Congrats. Does it have a rear locker?

For the antenna - The plastic gears are stripped. Instead of spending more cash on something that will eventually go out again, do a Tacoma antenna whip mod.

Not sure about the key fob. Batteries?

Yeah def going to be doing the whip antenna and the first thing I'm going to try is a new battery for the fob seeing how its 9 years old thats the place i'm trying first. I already took the battery out it takes one 3 volt watch type battery. The vibration issue seems most likely to be out of balance tires. After doing some searching looks like getting a good shop with a haweka adapter is the first place to start.

Well just a small update.......The key fob is fixed thanks to a new battery and after a check of tire pressure it looks as though the right rear tire was at 22 psi instead of the 35 its supposed to be. I filled it last night and this morning it was down again so I'm thinking I have a small leak that will need attending too. Then after that the antenna is up next.

Cool Me too

My 94' Hilux needs some time spent on her due to an electrical leak, broken emergency brake cable, and non-working A/C system. My old school truck will have to wait until I'm done having fun with my new toy. I also found a 3rd gen 4Runner, 99 SR5 for just $6k. It even has the e-locker. It was a CraigsList find early on a Sunday morning, straight from a hair-raising Johnny Cash song, really. I kept my pickup and am looking for the programming instructions for the replacement key fob that just arrived in the mail. Link me, anyone..? The work done to the 4Runner so far includes a new power antenna mast installed and the A/C evaporator box being disinfected. The problems with it were minor when I bought her and all that's left to do is program my key fob. Link found for programming: 2001 4runner Keyless Remote https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/2...ramming-10236/

Oh, pics or it ain't mine...k
