new paint and lift advice

Hey everybody,
well i just got a new job and am now making some good money so i have some future plans, just wanted some advice on these, k i have an 89 pickup black extra cab 22RE with 4.11 stock gears and a 2 inch BL with BFG 31x10.5
well this is a first and a forsure,
i am painting my truck but keeping it black with blue pearl or metalic and possible some very very faint tribal ghost flames,
and secondly i want to put a 4 inch suspension lift (looking at procomp) and keep my 2 in BL and run 35's with 5.29 gears, or take out the BL and just run 33's,
also i plan on putting new exhaust and a cam and a header for some extra horse
so anybody got any advice? thanks for the help
cody

Have any pics of your truck? I was thinking of a 2" body lift and 31" tires. Just want to see how it would look.

My advice would be to keep the body lift and run the 35's and see how you like it. Usually people wish they had lifted higher and run bigger tires than the other way around. What kind of driving do you do off road? What kind of tires are you going to get? I would wait to make the engine mods until after you regear, you might not feel like you need to do it anymore. You can also use the Bushwacker cut out flares for more room, if you need to. Just my .02

35's?

hey calg3,
well i do want to run the 35's i do want bigger, i am just worried about my stok 22RE with 380000 kms on her, i don't want to burn out this engine cause that is just more of a pain, but i will be putting in 5.29 gears at the same time so that should bring the power pretty close to stock but i have never done this so i don't know what the affecrs with be, well i don't do too much off roading...i do hunt alot in the fall which is nothing serious...just some back country with the ocasional hill and mud hole, but in the spring i do like to play, i live in the cariboo of BC which means lots of mountian and valleys so i am worried that i might lose alot of power and not be able to make it back up some hills....and i would prolly run BFG M/T's because they are wicked in the mud and they don't wear to bad from my experience, and i do plan on used flares...i just haven't decided to use the big cut outs or the some 1.5 in or 2 inchers i seen the other day
So has anybpdy done this mod before? and if so do you have any pics? thanks
cody

That 4banger will push those 35s with no problems with those gears. They are a workhorse.

I`m not familiar with km but hey I was running 36" Ground Hawgs on my 4banger with 5.29 gears. It`s slow on the get go, slow up hills, but proved itself best on the sand, mud, and trails. It`s not a highway passer but getting from point A to point B it won`t let you down.

On a side note, I would go with 33/12.5 on 10 in rims. 33`s will go everywhere a 35 would and you will have better power with them. You have to weigh it out.
33 functional and ease
35 looks

Memphis Yota - Good News! You will have more power with 5:29s and 35s than you have now with 4.10s and 31s, about 10% better (more powerful) gear ratio with the 5:29/35 combo. So it will feel great.

Here's some pics of 4" Trailmaster/3" body lift and 35s on a '90. It had 38s on it at one time, but they rubbed offroad (fine around town.) 15x8 rims. http://www.pcez.com/~pcollins/90Toyota4x4pics/

Hey flamedx4
just wondering, do you have the 4 or 6 in your truck? and how do you know that i will have a 10 % gain in power with the 5.29 gears? also what kind of tires are you runnin, i am guessing they are 12.5's but on what size rim and is there on offset? and are the tires hard on ball joints? oh and if you have a measurement of how far the stick out past the fender that would be great aswell...i want to stay on the legal side
thanks, cody
