Well I have to admit I wasn't a huge fan of PIAA but all I had ever dealt with was their headlight bulbs. Decided to try some of their other bulbs and they rock! I replaced my domelight and the difference is unreal! The bright white-blue light is way better than that crummy yellow. I can't even turn my map lights on with the dome on now because they look so pathetic. They will be the next to get changed! Also replaced the stock back-up lights with the same type ones. The PIAA is the bulb on the left. The stock yellow looks a bit brighter in the pic but I can assure you the PIAA's light up about 3 times further than the stock one. I can pull out my narrow driveway in confidence now in the dark! Here are the pics

Looks good Joey.
As you may have seen on my website, I am not a fan of their headlight bulbs, even though I still have them.
Have had them for a few years now, and they won't blow.
But now on the interior lamps, what is the bulb #?
Where did you get them?
I too would like a brighter light for both the dome and the map lights.
If I can find them locally, I might replace them.
I'll probably leave the stock reverse lamps alone though since I have the bertha twins back there.

I just looked in my my owners manual and they don't list the # for the map lights or the domes.
They only show how to replace it.
Best thing to do is pull them out and write down the #s, then contact the Piaa reseller for a cross reference #.
If I pull mine out, I'll write down the #s for the rear cargo bay, maps, and dome into my manual.

all I know is that my map lights are different from my dome lights, the manual has them listed down as double sided just like my domes, but they are not, they're just like regular looking bulbs but small. someone find out because i would like to change mine too

Here's the info - for 2nd Gen interior lights
Cargo Light Bulb - "Toshiba A12V10W"
Map Light Bulb(s) - "Toshiba A12V5W"
I must have replaced my dome light bulb at some point because it isn't the same "girth" as the stock Toyota bulbs. Mine is a Sylvania 12V5W. Since I had everything apart, I tried the dome bulb in the map light. It worked fine, but was a little loose. The contacts that hold the bulb can be adjusted though. (NOTE TO SELF: BULBS GET REALLY HOT - EVEN IF ON FOR ONLY A FEW SECONDS  ) Anyway, it looks like the maps and dome are the same (5W), the cargo is bigger (10W).
Steve (Robinhood), thanks for the pics and instructions for getting the map light housing off (previous post).
Also - has anyone experienced their dome light cover getting discolored from bulb heat (a little brown in the middle)?

Cebby,
My main concern would be the whole heat issue. I have wanted to change out all my lights, but I have heard about the wiring harness being messed up from extreme temperatures...never really heard about that issue regarding the interior only the exterior. Has anyone heard anything similar?, and if so is there a work-around other than not getting the PIAA bulbs at all?

OutKast I left my domelight on for about 10 minutes last night to see how hot it would get and it was warm to the touch but not hot. I think that unless you left them on for a really long time you shouldn't have any problems.

I pulled out my maplights today and confirmed that they ARE the same as the dome light. The number is DE3175 for anyone that wants to change em out. Not sure if this is the same for 3rd Gens or not!

mine aren't the same, my dome light will use the PIAA T-6 i think that's what it's called, they get very hot after a while, I don't think my cover is getting discolored but now that you mention it, I will go check it when I get picked up

Got my PIAA's in the mail today for my map lights and soon to be footwell lights. The map light ones are nice and bright as expected and here is a pic of the one for the footwell lights. With everything turned on I oughta be able to find about anything I misplace at night!

BTW the PIAA bulb is on the left!
