hey guys which wt do you run? i have 100k on my taco and i have ran 75w90 the whole time. changes from Durablend to M1.. well i think i am going to switch to M1 75w140 full syn.. its not that much thicker and it still has the synthetic properties. isnt thicker better? when it comes to t-case and diffs?? i have heard that for years. i have also heard that the 90wt breaks down much faster over time than the 140 (naturally duh). would this be overkill or just added protection? i may do a half and half blend of 90wt and 140wt

 

dont know about the M1 i use it for motor oil but for transfer case and diff's im using the Redline brand in both my 05 Tacoma Off road and 994R herd some complaining at totota nation about the M1 gear oil

 

All my trucks run 75-90 Synthetic. I think 75-140 is a little too think for our Toyotas. Dodge recommends using the 75-140 in their Dana 60 and Dana 70 axles tho.

 

lol i KNOW its the other way around.. M1 engine oil esp in the 5w and 10w30's are pretty dissapointing.. if you look up UOA's you will see that for yourself. i no longer use M1 in my motor.. i have never heard a complaint about M1 in the diffs or tcase what is the issue?

 

yeah i know a guy who used 90wt in his dakota and shot the bearings in about 60k miles... i picked up a bottle of M1 140 and M1 90 and it didnt seem much of a difference. actually the 140 seemed a little thin to me.. thats what brought this question up whether it would be ok to use in my taco instead of 90
