Unhappy headgasket

Looks like it is time to replace it after 175,000 miles. Is under $2000.00 fair for replacing? They are doing an oil change and rplaceing thermostat and other maintance parts. They are also checking and cleaning the heads. This is a trusted place I am taking it to, I was just wanting to compare prices.

Sounds fair to me. The dealer would have charged me $2400 if I wasnt under the recall warranty on my 96.

I've been trying to get a recall done for the 95s as they were supposidly fixed with a better head gasket, but i dont think it happened. i was charged to fix mine $2600 after only 95k miles.

if you want, email me your vin number. it might help with the fight against toyota. ive pretty much given up though...

nope not cracked, faulty head gasket! only cost me 20 bucks to fix though.....even if it was, im well under the 2000 to have someone do it.... why is it so much anyways? just cause the time it takes or is there something special to it?

I just edited my post. See above. I think its so much because of all the parts that have to come off in order to get to the gaskets. We have 2, you have 1. That might be another difference. But mine was free, so no bigee.
