'85 4Runner, What's it worth?

I found a 85 4Runner, partially stripped. It was stolen and recovered.

They took the whole dash, the seats, the door panels, the right door, the interior panels in the back, the sliders, the wheels and tires and the rear bumper.

It still has, solid axles, 5.29's, lockers, Super Lift 4" springs, an all pro off road front bumper, EFI 22RE and a 5 Speed.

It has a little rust on the rear quarters (it was from MN originally) but in NM it won't rust any more. It ran good when it was stolen, now (without a dash) it won't start.

I think it would make a great start for a trail rig, what should I offer him for it? I'm thinkin' $1200...He said he had an offer for $1500, but he might have been just baiting me.

Talking 85 Runner

My next door neighbor sold his 85 runner that was in pristine condition and had ALL its parts, plus 6" of lift, 38s and double locked, for $3800. I would think the one you are looking at is priced high at $1200.

Sounds pretty reasonable out here on the west coast. Money talks so offer him 12 cash and I bet he takes it.

Most if not all the drive train is there, you just need to add the sufficient parts to move it, I say it's woth it.

Let just add that if you plan to make this a trail rig, you may not even need to add the missing doors and the missing panels.

Just a suggestion, JIM.

Offer to buy the front axle for $250. That is the only thing if value on the vehicle. Basically everything on the truck has been greatly improved in the next 10 model years.

Toyota has discontinued most of the non-mechanical parts older than 1990.

You have a trail rig, a 2000 4Runner, spend you money on that.

Yup! I would show up with a grand cash in hand. Money talks. When people see the money, I think they are more motivated. I would also have another $100 in the back pocket, haggeling cash, just in case.

Sounds like a pretty good trail rig. Get a beat up dash, put in some Autometer guages, fab up some protection, and you're just about there.

I'm really leanin' towards putting the $1000 into a front ARB, Compressor and Install in my 2000.

Although, I hate to pass up this opportunity...why does $ have to be such an issue??? :wtf: am I going to do???

Hey Jim,
I'd wait and see if you win that auction first. If so, then continue on with the mods to the 2000. I'm not sure on the price. I saw a rusty and dented '84 toy pickup the other day for $1200, and it ran.
