4" Deck Plate mod question

Does it matter what side of the air box the deck plate goes. I would think on the front so that you get the cooler air coming directly in. If mounted on the engine side of the air box it seems logical that it will draw in the warm air from the engine and kind of defeat the purpose of the deck plate wouldn't it? I am planning on doing the deck plate mod in a few days, let me know what you guys think. I have the 2.7L 02 Taco 4x4. As always- A MILLION THANKS- Mike

It should always be facing forward not on the side as you had suggested.
Also make sure the hole is in front of the filter as best you can.

So you are saying on the front or not on the front?

Yes, in the front.

The other reason for not going with the side is that the fan belt often sprays muddy water all over my air box on that side. Not so great for keeping the air filter clean!

You will be glad you did it. I don't use mine nowadays, since I installed the SuperCharger, but before then, it was very helpful. The reason I don't use it now is because my Sherpa pings pretty badly at times. I don't want any more air than necessary getting in there until I can do the URD fuel kit upgrade.

I asked a similar question recently and I think you get them at marine supply places. The intended application for these things are for boats I believe.

Or find on online if you don't have a boating store near by.

The true intention of the deckplate is for a water tight service/ storage hole. Internet order or try to find a marine supply store. try to get a clear lid, I think that looks really good.
