03 SR5 4x4 Damage
Well I have had my 03 SR5 for about 3 weeks and today some dumba$$ plowed into it with a boat on a trailer in my work parking lot. So I go outside and there is this guy about to drive off when I run up and tap on his window. This guy was about to run off leaving just a business card on my window. I couldn't believe it. He was from out of state and towing a gigantic powered catamaran which was literally 3 times the size of his peice of s#%* 1984 ford van. I just can't believe some of the idiots out there. The boat trailers tongue had the bumper of the van about 4 inches off the ground. I purposely park my SR5 out of the way of other vehicles to avoid door dings and this guy manages to hit it with a boat. Well I have vented and feel a little better. I am just glad there was not any major body damage minus the rear bumper.

3 weeks, geez! At least he did leave you a biz card. Some jerks these days just take off.
I've heard of door dings, rock chips, windshield chips but never "run into by a boat" in the first month of ownership! I'd be a little upset too, to say the least.

cervesa,
sorry to hear bout your damage but consider yourself lucky that the guy left a business card. i've been tagged twice in two different vehicles w/ no note, nothing. he probably couldnt find you so thats why he did the responsible thing and left his card.

Hey cervesa33,
Sorry to hear about that. It sucks when you have a new truck, try to protect it, and then some one run's into it. Luckily, like you said, there was not that much body damage. I still would have been really .

feel sorry for you
only 3 weeks! Some people just shouldn't be on the road, glad you caught him before he left the scene. At least you can get it all fixed up. I am praying it doesn't happen to me that soon, especially if I am driving it around , and not my wife.

That sucks man, hopefully he will pay you cash and you will get a little extra
People always say bad things happen in 3 when my 2000 Pathfinder was less than 8 months old 3 people crashed into it, one of them I ran down on foot in 110 degree heat wave, that was a workout, when I got to the guys car I got in the passenger side and was like you hit my car he was like oh you saw :pat:

Some Pics
I got every peice of data off the idiot. I am calling his insurance company this morning to get the ball rolling. Like I said it could have been a lot worse and as far as I can tell it is all cosmetic but I will know more tomorrow when I get the estimate.
My SR5 has the "AP" appearence package that just became available hear on the east coast last month so I am thinking it may be difficult to get a hold of the replacement parts.
Here is a link to some pics (you can enlarge them by clicking twice).

cervesa33,
What was the idiot doing when he hit you? I was just thinking a little scratch here and there. There is no way that fool was even paying attention to what he was doing. Dude, I feel your frustration!

I feel your pain. Sorry, it hurts worse when the truck is new.
I'd contact my insurance company, not his. It isn't a chargeable against you, and your agents and lawyers will work for you instead of against you like his company will. Then you get to spec repairs, e.g., panel replacement instead of bondo, OEM parts, lifetime warranty, rental car reimbursement, etc.

omg those pix are bad . the good news is it's insured and they're insured. also it looks like minimal cladding damage and no body (frame) damage. but then again, I could be wrong.
I would definitely call your own insurance company and get the ball rolling and they'll be able to take care of everything for you. Literally everything from gettin the $$ from the other insurance and also fixing your 4runner and giving you a loaner for the time being.
Hope everything gets fixed asap.
