I just did the brakes on my wifes truck and it was the first time for me on a Toyota 4x4. A friend of mine said it was a about the easiet thing you could do. I was on my way to work when I heard it start squealing and didnt have time to go back home. Just used a C-clamp. That is a really nice setup.

Soon as we get some decent weather, hubs is on the list. Some hubs spin nicely and others are hard. Its been awhile on since I have done hub work. Seems like it is not that bad of a job to do.

Did you have to do any work with the tracks in your back hatch? Mine seem to be binding. Trying to work up the courage to tear everything apart and redo it. Just afraid I might get in over my head but want it working right.

i havent done any thing to my truck lately

but i got a pair of used rear shocks off a ford ranger. tht compress great but rebound slowly. im gonna put them on the grey one sometime because my current shocks are maxed out with the install of the coils, and these shocks are about 4-6in longer i believe. not sur until i take them out.

terrry: as far as the back i havent had to do anywork to my tracks.

Exclamation head!

so i helped a friend work on his 82or83?(cant remember) truck today. he bought the truck and the head was bad(dont remember what was wrong with it) but when i got their he had tried to put a 22re head on the 22r. and was told on here tht he was stupid for trying it and tht they are differant heights by 7mm so he bought a 22r head to put on it.

but back to me, since i helped him he is selling the 22re head to me for real cheap. so hopefully ill have my grey runner running soon. YAY!!!!

Glad to hear you are getting the head. I would still have it checked. The machine shop I use charges $35, to make sure it is level and no cracks. Maybe soon you will have it running. The weather is getting nicer so hopefully we all can make a little progress.

Dont know why somebody would call him stupid for putting the wrong head on if he didnt know about the change in engines. Im not sure exactly what year they changed, but it wont work.

So how you coming along on the SAS? Still aquiring parts?

he already had the head cleaned, pressure checked and resurfaced. so its all good.

as for the SAS i either need to find a front housing tht is not bent or try to straighten mine.

so a while back i decided to use a ceramic skull as my shifter nob, in i liked it except the fact tht all i did was wrap sum electrical tape around the shifter and slide it on, easy install but it also ment it could come off and the worst time it came off was when i was sliding off a road down a hill when i went to down shift. so i decided to fix this the other day

here is a nut grinded down to fit in the skull

and here is it test fitted in the skull

now the bad news:
i took the skull and smacked it down so the bolt would hit to push the nut in farther, well the hole in the skull was tapered so it cracked the skull in half
but i put some jb weld on it and put it together now i just have to hope it lasts.

now on to the good stuff

i got around to cleaning a few engine parts

after using a wire brush

after a cleaning in the solvent tank

and all painted

i have to do a few touch-ups but its a good 5-10ft paint job

and 2 brackets and the fuel rail done up also.

A shifter knob sliding off at the worong time can be a bad thing. I tried to do my covers like yours and Chefs, and just could get the same reuslts that you two have gotten. Its looking good.

Maybe a suggestion. I got from Yotarob, is to put clear coat when done. It helps to clean up easier. It comes in a spray can.

Cleaning parts is a step closer to getting it put back together and running. Looking forward to it.

Even after having the head bolted down, it still seems to take a while to get everything back together.

Painted parts just make the job look a lot better and when you get it running its still nice to have looking good when working on it in the future.

Hoping you get a chance to get it together and running soon. looking good.
