went to the squak ridge trip this weekend. left around 530pm fri, and got home around 430pm today(sun). it was an awsome weekend. i wasnt the only stock one their, but i was def. the lowest one their. but with some good guiding and some throttle here and their i made it all the way threw, the only casualty was tht i cut about a 3in u shape inside of my drive rear tire. but thankfully i had my spare. besides for tht i hit my front diff brace about 4times, my crossmember about 13, my gas tank 1, and my rear axle about 9 times.

i def will go next year. and this year showed me tht i can make it through. but will atleast want some 31's and possible make a new crossmember tht doesnt hang down as far.

I been checking in on you, figured you been really busy. Sounds like you had a great time and the truck did great too. Bet you are thinking where did the weekend go? Having a great time make it fly by that much faster.

got a toyo alt from pick-n-pull for $18. with a one yr warrenty. had it tested at autozone and it was good. just put it on about an hr ago and tested it myself and its putting over 50amps out. so thts the good news.

now on to the bad, i switched the 2 trucks on insurence so i had a vehicle to drive. and at first it was great driving the scav since its been a while. but then things went down hill. rad cap wont hold pressure and it coused coolant to spew out of the overflow bottle and fry my driver headlight. i have an oil leak somewhere near where my a/c bracket bolts to the timing cover. one of the bolts the hold the water pump to the timing cover wont tighten due to the cover is striped(but it is not leaking, yet.). and i have a serious lack of power. and horrible gas milage. before id get 240-260miles to a tank ill be lucky if i get 180 out of this tank. and my speedo is still acting up, oil psi gauge doesnt work, and i think the temp gauge is faulty, so this sr5 gauge cluster is pretty much crap.

so this weekend has sucked

Sorry to hear about your bad weekend. When you swapped in the sr5 cluster did you upgrade the oil pressure sensor to the sr5 one beforehand? Pretty sure you need to do this or you'll nuke the gauge. Not sure if it would effect the rest of the cluster, but I haven't dealt with it myself, just read about it. Hope your next week goes better, Twisted.

As far as it overfilling your overflow bottle, I hate to say it, but sounds like you are going to be doing a head gasket. Watch and see if your exhaust pipe spews water. Thats what my wife truck did. About a month of owning it, it kept having low water in radiator. I added to it a couple of times and could find any leaks. Did notice antifreeze on drivers mudflap. One day started it up and had a big puddle under exhaust pipe. Tried replacing cap and T-stat. Hopefully it isnt your problem, but want to make you aware. Try checking your spark plugs. If one is white,..welll...

On the oil leaks, I feel your pain, they can be a pain to find and seal. As far as your cluster guage. Try reseating all of your connections and your speedo cable. Might even try oiling your cable and see how that goes.

the HG could be an issue but i hope not. i have a total of 110miles on it since i rebuilt it.

im thinking i may buy another 22re and clean it up and drop it in. then work on this engine. but not sur yet. not enough funds to allow for another engine.

my unmcle brought up a possible reason to my power problem.

my block is an 85(the newer style) but i dont know what year my head is all i know is tht it is an efi head(pear shape exhaust ports), he is wondering if the combustion chambers of the heads are differant sizes between differant years.

but i think im going to try to find a pre-smog yota and drop a 4.3L chevy v6 in my runner.

Since it was just rebuilt, hoping it is nothing serious. I did an engine conversion once. It was carberated. I am not brave enough to do fuel injection, so say it not to bad.

i will tear into the engine sooner or later though. wetheir it is for the scav or a back up engine for the berry.

I plan on doing a back up engine myself. I have 3 22re trucks and two of them have just had the headwork done and have high miles, so I may be pushing my luck. Didnt have time or money to do it complete so just did the top half.

Some say if you pull the head, may as well do the block. I can understand that, but I think this drought killed my money tree. At least these motors, you can put a little into them and keep going for awhile.

Building a back up, you can take your time as money allowed and do it right. I am going to make it a winter project. It will be SLOWWW..

ever since the wheeling tripp i have been running around on my spare. i went to the local tire guy and he didnt have a pair of stock tires for the berry and after some thinking, my plan is to take 31's of the scav and put on the berry and get a spare for it.

the reason im doing this is because i cant justify buying a newer tires. since when the scav gets a straight axle it is going to get bigger tires like 35's and the 31's would still go on the berrye. so if i swap now. i only have 2 buy 1 set of tires instead of 2.

so next weekend i have a friend coming over to help me. we will swap tires. and hopefully add a leaf to my spring pack to get rifd of the sag.

and if we still have time i may put the smitty bumper on the berry along with the top(getting a lil cold and cloudy).

like i posted above i was thinking of adding a leaf to my spring pack to get rid of the sag, but now tht im getting closer to building my Solid axle, i am now thinking of putting the axle under the berry. so i think ima wait on building a rear leaf pack until i swap it.

its weird, i never thought id swap the berry before the scav, but i have better parts for the scav but cant do anything with them until i make room. i want to take apart the chevy axles and clean them up but i want to wait until my toyo axle is built for 2 reasons.
1. tht way i dont have 2 front axle worth of parts and 1 rear axle worth of parts all mixed up.
2. i dont have room to store the chevy axles once i tear them apart, right now they are laying in the back of my chevy.

but this is what i would like in the end(which is very far away):
berry- SAS, Daily driver, dual trannies, to be determined haha
Scav- Full width, Weekend warrior, 4.3L v6 chevy, custom bumpers, and on and on and on lol.
