Thanks guys.. He is doing better. He has never been this mello. Always bouncing off the walls. I envy those who have girls.lol. Boys are daredevils and are always skinned up, 8 years old and been stitched up 3 times, 2 butterly stitches and 1 broken bone. Broken bones haunt you for life.
Thanks Twistedyota..I done alot that doesnt really show, going for the clean, survivor look.
Chef.. 32 bones, that from your car wreck? Ouch. Bet your ready for another vacation. You generelly need a vacation to recup from vacation. Looks like you had agood time with family. Nowadays, familys get spread all across the country.
Hello 92..I am staying after it. It is slow going but I like the way it is turning out.
Hello Jason... I would of liked to change color, but you already know , just letting others. I didnt want to have to pull the engine and paint the jams. Just a little quirk of mine. But it still needs some thing, just seems bare.

I started to look around the net and YT. My Transfer case looks like it is in 4 Low and is actually in 2 HI. I have pulled the stick thinking it might be in backwards or something. I can tell this transmission has been out at least once as they had the wrong bolts holding tranny in. Dont know why it wont work right and no matter what I do. I cannot get it in 4 Low.
When I put it in Reverse, I hit the transfer stick and have to push against it to go into gear. That is the reason I am getting ready to swap t-cases. I wonder if this is even the correct t-case for this truck.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have done many tranny swaps, but never a t-case swap. From what it is looking like it is an easy swap, once I get it ready to go in. I want to clean it and get in new seals.
Going in Reverse.

First Gear.

Hey Terry, about those burgundy cloth seats you are trying to clean...how adjustible are they? They don't have a lumbar dial do they? Are they comfortable at all? I need some gray seats and a guy on CL has some gray ones like yours but does not show any side shots. He's a bit of a drive but they are cheap. I have the vinyl seats and the driver's left side is shot. I feel like I'm riding on my right cheek and about to fall into the shifter...

Hey there, Terry, ...looking good!
Ok, well, ... not sure on the T-case.... other than,....mine is leaking like a pig since the diff drop I did. So, not that's up next along WITH the Trans I need. GRRR! lol.
However, mine goes into Gear, etc. I would clean it up, for now, get the numbers off it and call in the dealer for a check-see, ya know? They'll tell you if it's the right x-case for your baby.... And, you're SURE the stick 'GUIDE' in there isn't in sideways? Not sure that's even possible on the x-case, ...it's not on the main trans stick.... but anyway, LOTS of trans sales include the T-case, ya know?

boy terry somthing doesnt seem right with the shifters hiting like that but its been so long since mine was together I dont remember ˟˟˟˟er positions well enough to be of any help. I no this isnt your problem but mhy wifes dodge would go into four low when she bought it and I started checking into it and the shifter was hitting the floor do to the BL the PO had installed[since been removed] like I said I know thats not your problem but It might be somthing simple like that.

I'm sure you said you turned it around.... but DID YOU TURN IT AROUND? hahahaha. Just to try, ya know? I can't remember, and I was just in there! grrr! lol.... Can't remember, I meant, "Is the 4wd shifter angled in any way at the socket/insert"? I know the main shifter is,....but you said you'd tried that turned around, too, right? My new Marlin Kit is much tighter, ...but I had to mark it as I took it out as I was quickly getting confused and forgetful! lol.... Oh well, getting old can suck, BUT ALSO ROCKS! LOL.
Hi Nervo, how you doing? On my 88 the seats just have tilt foward and backwards. As far as I know the 84-89 4Runner seats were pretty basic.
On my wife truck, I put 89-95 seats out of a 93 4Runner and they have the side support and butt support. This is only on the drivers side. The passenger side is basic, slide forward and tilt.
By far the 89-95 seats are more comfortable. If I could ever come across another drivers seat for the passenger I would get it.
I dont think the trucks got the same options but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the quick response. Maybe some Aussie member can send you a right hand driver's side seat.
I guess I'll hold out for some SR5 seats. The ones like yours are on Craig for $75 in northern VA. I'm confused whether 90-95 will slide if they are from a more common 4DR? My 11 year old already has a time getting in now, with 31's. Have to have the forward slide.
Hmmm. I already have a perfect set of '00 gray seats but they are in the avatar vehicle. I'm pretty sure they would be missed if I borrowed them!

I was wanting to get a pic of the Transfer case with the cover off and got side tracked on working on my seat cable and finish getting the interior all back together.
On the rust bucket it had a cable so I wound up using it instead of making one. I am keeping the old one and want to go to a bike shop and see what they I would have available for parts.
Here is the old one. It shouldnt be to hard to fabricate one I would think.

Hello Outsane..The seats make a big difference in her truck. I my experience the trucks got left out on some of nicer upgrades.
I plan on making tomorrows project of getting a good pic of the T-case and maybe you guys might see something I am missing.

I must have made a wire loose on my rear window switch when I took out and reinstalled my interior. I Ohmed it out and cleaned it up and couldnt find where the break is at. I could move the console a little and get it working. Finally I just switched it out with a spare and got it working again with no problems.
One thing I have learned, even if it is bad keep it. I have been able to get things working before such as my headlight/wiper switch assembly and washer bottle. The switch is fixable and will work in a pinch. I did mark its problem and with time and patience I would eventually get it. Just put it back into my parts stack to keep it all togther.

Thanks Chef.. My transfer shifter was in backwards. I still took a picture of it and looking inside the case and when I changed the gear oil, I could tell it had water in it at some point. I knew this truck had been abused and neglected, and the tranny has been out with wrong bolts in it. Also had wrong bolts in the motor and I got them straightened out.
I still cant get it into Low Range. I even engaged the hubs and tried rocking it back and forth, drive a little bit and still no luck. 4 High Range and 2 High work, just not 4 Low. I didnt want to try alot of pressure just in case I would break something. My replacement works and will be getting it in hopefully in the next couple of weeks.
I have pulled trannys with cases attached and have done alot of 4 wheeling, but I am not knowledgeable about Tcases in any other way, shape, or form. I have a friend whose going help me replace the seals and swap it out when the time comes.
If anybody has any other suggestions about this Tcase and getting it in Low, I am all ears. I am still going to replace it just because I know its history. But I would like to get it working and cleaned out just so as I have a spare.

Chef, you are right about getting old. I was sure I answered post #326. I usually try to answer right after not several post later. Sorry about that. Just turned 44, I am losing it. I had tried turning it around one other time and it just didnt seem to feel right. But this time it went right in.
I have tried everything to get it into Low Range, motor runing, not running, transmission and hubs engaged, not engaged. The new Transfer seems to work well.
I used the Lesnse Restorer for the Tail lights. It turned out great for the condition they were in. Been working on the details, it is a slow process. My license plate lights were burnt out and replacing the bulbs didnt fix it. I have had the black trim out several times. Should of fixed them when I first had it out.
After the T-case, I plan on doing the Interior and saggy butt issue. Been looking on the net for seat cover replacements and no luck yet. I would like to give it a try. If not guess it will go to upholstry shop.

Terry, no problem man! We have enough to worry bout in our day to day, ....let alone keeping up perfectly with this! lol.
T-case, .... Having my own issues. NOT with shifting, ...rather, with what appears to be the Trans Leaking fluid backward into the T-case through the union.... GRRR! At least I know my T-case WORKS, right? But, ..... now I guess I'm being SHOVED into replacing the trans while I'm at it..... (seems silly to pull the t-case, reseal it, only to have to pull the trans ANYWAY in a few.....'whatever'(days? Weeks? MONTHS? YEARS
...YEAH, I know, doubtful on the years! lol).
Far as the seat covers....I'm going to give my buddy a call..... his are BEAUTIFUL, and they came from this guy who specializes in Neoprene Covers with pockets all in them, custom colors, etc. They are SICK, Terry, trust me. I'll see if he can give me some pics, then I'll shoot em to ya, k? He also got a custom shifter boot of leather from Germany that is REALLLLLLLLY nice! Gray with Red and black double Stitching... Let me know on that one.

Hello Chef.. I would definietly be intrested in the seat covers. My interior is shot, I have it cleaned up as best as possible, but it needs redone. I seen somewhere on here on the net some where and they can make some really great shifter covers. It adds a nice touch to one.
I hear you on the leaks. Was greasing my U-joints yesterday and seen I have a Power Steering leak and a leak around the oil pan. Power Sterring lines arent leaking, must be from the unit itself, just enough to get it wet. No loss of fluid out of resivor to speak of. The oil pan bolts were a little loose. I snugged up the oil pan bolts, hoping that fixes my problem. I have a leak further up some where. Just wet.
Problems usually dont fix them selves, am thinking in a couple of weeks, I will just pull the drive train and and go through it. May as well do the clutch while out. From what I have read doing the pan gasket with the motor in is a pain. Probably be quicker and easier that way.

I was going home from work yesterday and somehow busted a belt on my tire. I needed to replace a couple anyways, but for what they wanted for the same tire so I wouldnt have to do all four at once, the guy had a nice set of 31s, for a cheaper price. I like the looks of it better.
I got them on the runner and it rides so much better now. Also have been working on getting my window seals to set in their grooves better and now it is really quite inside the truck now.
The tires set me back on getting the t-case done, but like I said earlier, think I will just go through everything at once. Just got to get the funds back up for it.

Boy Terry everytime I see your runner it looks better to me, do a zuk mod to level it out and it'll look sweeeeeet, I know your looking at it down the road just joking with ya. Sorry to hear about your unexpected tire purchase, but nothing worse than driving one with what feels like a square tire. Hope everything else is good with you and yours.

The 4Runner looks terrific.
If you are looking for a shifter boot I got mine from "topgaiters" on eBay. They make them in England and can do many colors. I got gray. He also makes a console cover. I have a plastic DX console though. The shipping was very fast -- about 3 days. Search "4Runner boot" to find them or

Thanks jason.. There is alot of work that cant be seen. I have been working on getting the window seals cleaned up and back in their tracks the way they should be. I have no wind noise at all. SWEEEEET!!
I have a bad case of saggy butt. The bigger tires make it alot more noticeable. I will be gald to get that fixed too.
Thanks Nervo.. My boots are worn and just bad looking. I am hoping to get to my interior in the next few months. At least it is starting to come to my attention. I start looking out ahead and searching for the next upcoming fix.
Speaking of windows for others that may be having issues with their back passenger windows not sliding well. I used that Silicon Lubricant in the orange spray can that I have listed on Page 8 #186. What a difference.
