thanks Mark, I pulled most of it by hand, then I tried using a 12" cresent wrench to pry the rest, that was a mistake, that is what left the ding, I ended up using this huge pair of channel locks to finish pulling it out. If I would have used the channel locks first, it wouldn't have left the little ding...oh well, alot better than it was!

Deer and turkeys are being a little rough on your rides lately. Hope things don't come in 3's in this situation. Seems like I get to deal with 3 things all at once. One of our company trucks just got repaired from a turkey. I got stopped in it by the hiway patrol and it still had the feathers in it before it went to the shop. Another guy had his windshield knocked out by one.

Hand guns are nice to have around. Enjoy going to the range with them.

Hi Terry. Yeah the animals have been out in force lately, lol. I hope my bad luck with them doesn't come in three's... I already had a couple close calls with more deer, and one really close call on my driveway meeting one of my neighbors and the road was a solid sheet of ice...that one could've been really bad!
I really need to get a DD/work truck so im not DD my 4runner...still working on my wife on that one!

I haven't shot the pistols yet, as soon as the weather gets a little better I will definitely be trying them out!

I haven't done anything new on the 4runner, but this winter is taking it's toll already, my horn stop working, my driverside door froze shut, when I finally got it open, the weather striping was frozen to the door jamb and peeled it loose from the door, not a big deal, the driverside door lock stop working, so I cant lock the drivers door, and I got another exhaust leak on the passenger side, I think it's the donut where the exhaust bolts to the manifold, I got to go check it in a minute I think the bolts loosened up...I'm ready for summer!

Seems like, for me at least, everything happens to me when its cold.

Getting colder here today. Been raining all day and supposed to turn to sleet/snow later this evening.

nothing like the cold to bring out the gremlins in your truck.... the tach on my DD doesn't work when its cold out, still can't figure that one out but i'm too lazy to pull the dash for it cuz it starts working once the cab heats up.
Sounds like a good excuse to put in new door seals, i've heard it helps a lot with road noise to replace our 25+ year old rubber seals

Horn issue usually is in the column. I have posted somewhere in one of my threads for new doors seals that I can post later if you want them. They make a huge difference.

A couple of different ways to fix the horn.

The way I fix this to take a small flat blade around the edge of the brass ring and raise it a little bit and slip some paper gasket under the brass ring. It has worn itself down and not making contact with the 11 oclock post.

Plate horn contact part # 84312-20011. $4.98 through an online Toyota discount parts dealer.

Here is a better picture of the Brass Ring and my pointer finger is what makes contact to sound the horn. I just clean them with some fine grit sandpaper.

Got the horn to working. I used a .22 shell to make the contact to the steering wheel. I found this on Yotatech and like it better then how I used to fix my horns. I have it listed on my 88 4Runners build thread for more details about getting the horn to work on the first page.

Testing horn
Another thing I got fixed on my 91 was the horn. I know this happens alot and hopefully this will help some in the future. Pull the steering wheel with a Steering Wheel Puller that you can usually rent from a parts store for free. Then check it by touching the brass spring in the 11 oclock postion. I just used my wrench. If it honks it is most likely the brass ring on the back side of the wheel. Not the best picture but you should get the idea.

yeah it seems that way, then it's hard to get motivated to get out there and fix things when it's cold, lol.

I haven't done it but i'd think someone sells them aftermarket though....

I did a similar horn fix on mine but just added a bead of solder to the end of the contact. did the trick. the 22 shell is much classier though, wish i woulda thought of that haha

Thanks for the link Terry, I'll have to add to my bookmarks!

On another note, I finally ordered a radiator cap and universal radiator mounting bracket for my new aluminum radiator I bought months ago. So that will be my next project. I still need to figure how much of the core support I'm going to remove, ill probably figure that out once i get the old one out and start mocking up the new one. My new rad, fan shroud and 14" electric fan are alot thicker than my old setup, so I need to move everything forward, which is going to necessitate removing much of the core support and rebuilding it around my new rad. I'm definitely going to lose my hood latch, hood pins would be the easiest solution, but I really don't want to go that route unless I have to. I'll probably try to build my own latch, and use my stock hood pull cable to actuate it (like Gizler and I were talking about earlier in my thread). I'll face that hurdle later!

I'm also going to buy some wheel spacers for my off road trailer project. I messed up when I changed the trailer design and made it wider, so now I need wheel spacers...if anybody has some they're not using and want to sell, let me know, I need at least 2"spacers...3" would be even better!

Somehow I am not finding the link were you won but like to say a Big Congratulations!!! You have done a lot of great work to your rig and well deserve it. Congrats!!!

Earlier on in your thread we were talking about you getting some wrong parts and it was like a kid getting socks and underwear for Christmas. I think you are going to like these presents a little better. lol

I know at one time dropzone had some spacers for sale. Might drop him a PM and see if he still has them.
