Hey Isaiah, if you want to start your own build thread just go back to the "86'-95' pickup and 4runner build-up" main menu where it list all the names of everyone's build threads, and at the top of the list in the left hand side you will see a " new thread" button. Just hit that. Be sure to post up lots of pics, we all like pics!!! Look forward to seeing your build!

Got bored today, decided to try to lift the rear a little more to level it with the front. If I had been smart, I wouldn't have cut off so many coils off the tj springs when I did the Zuk mod, but I tend to do things twice, lol. I decided to lengthen my rear shackels 2" after lengthening them and welding the seam on both sides, I then plated one side for added strength. It looks ugly, but its strong.

Here's a pic after installing the longer shackle, it raised the rear about an inch, so now I have 8" of clearance from the top of the tire to the rear fender, on the front I have 11-1/2" clearance, so about 3-1/2" more in front than in back, it looks closer to level, good enough until I re-do the rear lift with Chevy 63" springs, or maybe some TG rear lift springs, but that will be awhile down the road.

I like the red on your truck. The whole truck is starting to look great. I am guessing your shackles will work fine, nice that you were able to do it yourself.

Thanks Terry, one of these days I'm going to wax and buff out the paint, I don't really know what to do with what's left of the factory decals/ pen stripping (you can see them really faintly on the gas door, the rest of it is so light it doesn't show up in the pic) it almost seems more like faded paint than a stick on decal, oh well, lol. I drove the runner to the store and back, hit some speed bumps, etc, and didn't notice any adverse effects from the shackles, the ride is pretty comfortable, besides gaining an inch of lift, it relaxed the arch in the rear springs going up to the shackle that was caused when I added the TJ coils/Zuk mod. I'm not sure how the well the rear springs will flex with this setup, Ill have to test it soon!

Thanks Mark, lol! Glad the runner also met your granddaughter's approval! She's adorable!!! I might need more detailed instructions from her on the Bromidium Transfunctioner install though, lol!!!

Well yesterday evening after I finished installing my modified longer shackels, I thought I would drill out and enlarge the holes in the mounting tabs on my front bumper so I could mount my old school KC daylighters (I figured it would compliment my old school Smittybuilt bumper, lol.) Anyway, I was using my dewalt drill (which must have like 300ft/lbs of torque) and it caught and twisted on me somehow tweaking my right hand ring finger. Anyway it was all swollen today, and hurts if I move it, I'm thinking a bad sprain, but it kinda limited me on working on the runner today, or at least what I wanted to work on. So I found a few odds and ends to do. Went ahead and put the KC lights on, they're not wired up yet, trying to decide if I like them or not, what do you guys think?

Also I thought I would do the rear shoulder belt mod for the back seats so my 2 kidoes will be able to ride in their booster seats. I got the belts mounted, then ran into a snag. When I pulled the belts out of my parts cab (right before selling it) I was having a ruff time getting the receiver part of the belt (with the push button) unbolted due to rust. So I finally decided I would just use the original receiving part of the belt already in the 4runner. Well as most of you probably already know, they're different. So I figured I'd post a pic, hopefully it will save someone else the hassel, lol.

^^^The brown belt is the original, the blue one is too wide to fit in the original receiving end, and the cut outs are different, I thought about grinding modifying it, but don't think that's a good idea, Ill probably just find another set at the pick & pull, hopefully either gray or brown (still haven't decided what color to go with on the interior, lol)

I got a question, can anyone identify what year 4runner seats I have, I think they're out of second Gen, not sure, but the rear seatbacks latching mechanism doesn't line up with the post sticking out of the side panel. So the seat backs recline back to far, I was thinking of doing a temporary fix on them until I can find a first Gen rear seat. I remember seeing a thread on swapping in later model seats, does anyone remember the thread? Here is a pic of the seats I have, any help or oppinions are welcome!

when i got my 3point seat belt, they plugged right into my original buckle. looks like 2nd gen seats but they look to be on the wrong side. where they meet in the middle, there shouldnt be a v shape like that.
i think those that did the 2nd gen swap just used the cushions and used the original frame

OK Mark, since you brought Abbygail into it, she so cute I can't deny her, lol... The video was shot from my cellphone, so it has really crappy sound, also I have an annoying exhaust leak, i replaced the driverside manifold, and used a new gasket, maybe a warped manifold? I got it used. Anyway here's the video:

Thanks ToyoTech, you know I was looking at those bottom cushions, and I thought they looked to be on the wrong side, but wasnt sure. I probably just try to find another set of belts, (that aren't blue) so my interior isn't three different colors, lol.

Hahaha.... OH c'mon, Ed! You're young at heart.... You'll be fine.. just slap on some BenGay and take a Geritol and GET OUT THERE! hahaha. HEY, ....if Ivan "Iron Man" Stewart can still get out there... so will we, got me? lol.

Thanks, man! Appreciate the compliments.. But yes, I did start young, 21 when having my daughter, Kayla(Abbygail Rose's Mom)... 23 when having Haley(Jay Michael's Mom). I'm 43 now.... so yes, I'm a pretty young Grandpa, as my daughters had their kids at 18 and 22.
