Well, I'm.going to take the day off from packing, hopefully I can get the tranny and t-case swapped out today. The only problem I foresee is that I want to replace my new NWOR throwout bearing with an OEM Ford throwout bearing. Hopefully one of the parts store has one in stock. I had nothing but problems with the NWOR TOB trying to fine tune it to where it wouldn't make a squeeling sound. I made the slave cylinder plunger pushrod adjustable, and never could find the sweet spot. The PO was running an OEM TOB, and when I removed it it was worn out, but you wouldn't have known by driving it, never made any noise.

I'm starting to doubt that I'm going to get this done today. I keep getting interrupted, my wife had to go get more boxes for packing, so I'm watching the kids right now, lol. I drained the gear oil out of the tranny and t-case from the G52 that's currently in the runner and found this stuck to the drain plug of the tranny

I'm sure there's more where that came from, it sounds horrible, lol.

Well as I feared, I didn't get much accomplished today. I was hoping to have the tranny swapped and be done, but it didn't work out that way. I got the new to me tranny and tcase cleaned up, and got the radiator, starter, clutch slave cylinder, and electric fans removed. I had to order a throwout bearing, should be here Tuesday. I have a couple appointments tomorrow, so Ill probably just spend the rest of tomorrow afternoon packing up the moving truck ( my uncle loaned us a big enclosed truck, looks like a uhaul, saved us some $$$). Probably get back to work on the runner Tuesday. Man I'm cutting it close!!!

Hope it goes well for you. I agree with liveofforads get it running on a budget comment. Atleast you can still enjoy it instead of being a yard ornament. Between the move and repairs, you have your work cut out for you. Hang in there. Things will eventually settle down.

Thanks Terry. I'm hopeful that this tranny will last me awhile, it sounds really smooth when you spin the input shaft and run it through the gears in 2 hi, 4 hi and 4 low, plus when I drained the gear oil out of this one it looked like honey, and I didn't see any metal particals, so I'm I'm really hopeful!!! I'm going to try to get her finished up today, since we are moving Thursday!!!

Thanks racer. I got the new tranny and tcase in today, Ill finish it up early tomorrow morning, all i have left is to reinstall the radiator and electric fans, and fix my hacked up exhaust. Last time I did the exhausted I sleaved the pipe on one end and used muffler clamps. The other end was welded, anyway the clamps were sinched down so tight that I couldn't pull it apart, ended up cutting both sides, so now Ill have to welded it back together, lol.

Thanks Travis. Tomorrow and the rest of the weeks going to be really busy for me, so I hope to finish up the runner tomorrow morning, and test it out on the way to my wife's uncles house where its going to stay for a couple days. Then were moving up to the new house Thursday (about 5 hrs away), and unpacking, I have a job interview Friday, my wife and I are coming back Saturday to pick up my two kids and the 4runner, then headed back up to the new place, lol, so I hope the 4runner makes it this time!!!

By the way Mark, that car is sweet! My mom used to have an old Maverick, always thought they'd look good fixed up.
Hi Richard, I didn't have time to take any pics, but I'll do more of an update once I get settled in.

Ha, ha. The kids are excited. We're enrolling my daughter in the second grade today. My son doesn't start school till next year.
Well the 4 runner made the trip!!! The tranny held up good. Did about 70mph most of the way. My speedo is about 5 MPH off, so when I'm doing 65, its really 70. Also my gas gauge is a little off. We left Yakima, drove 200 miles to Spokane and my gauge was reading empty, I was thinking I'm in trouble if I can only go 200 miles on tank of gas! But when I topped it off it only took 14.5 gals, so I must have had about 3.5 gals left in the tank. I had my wife use her trip odometer to track my gas mileage since she was following me in her Durango, and I knew mine wouldn't be accurate with the bigger tires. We traveled 199.3 miles, it took 14.5 gallons to fill it, so that comes out to 13.69 miles to the gallon, not to bad considering I was driving with the windows down, and it seemed like there was a strong cross wind for the entire trip, lol. I'm thinking with a little tuning (carb is running rich, acts flooded when I try to restart the engine after its warm) I think I could get it close to 15mpg... not the best, but a give up some mpg's for the extra HP!!!
So it might be a week or so before I'm back on the forum, my cellphone doesn't get reception at our new house, and we aren't getting internet (Hugh's net) until Thursday, so Ill have to catch up on everyone's threads then, lol!
